I. Form:
The present perfect The present continuous
(+) . S + have/has +Vpp
Ex: I have broken my leg.
(-). S + have/has+not+Vpp.
Ex: John hasn’t finished his report yet.
(?):Have/has+ S +Vpp?
Ex: have you seen Peter recently?

Ex:Look! That man is talking a photo of you.

II. Uses
The present continuous The present perfect
1) The present continuous describes activivties
happening now
Ex: I’m studying English
2) Uses the present continuous for temporary
situations and actions in the extended present
Ex: Why are you wearing a suit? You usually wear
jeans
1) The present perfect expresses what has happened before
now.the action happened an indefinite time in the past.
Ex: I’ve met a lot of famous people
2)Expresses an experience as part of someone’life
Ex:I’ve travelled a lot in Afica
+Ever and never are common with this use.
Ex :Have you ever been in a car crash?
3) It also describes an activities in the near future
Ex: I’m playing tennis this afternoon
4) People often use the present continous with always
to describe annoying behavior
Ex: Is she complaining?.Yes, she is. She’s always
complaining.

3)+ The present perfect expresses an action which
began in the past and continues to the present
Ex: How long have you learned English?
+The time expresstions for and since are common with
this use.We use for with a period of time, and since with
a point in time

Ex:- We’ve lived here for two years
- I’ve had a tattoo since I was a teenager
4)+The present perfect expresses a past action with
results in the present
Ex: The taxi’s arrived
+The adverbs just,already, and yet are comment with
this use.Yet is use in question and negative.
Ex:- has the postman been yet?
-It’s 11.00 and she hasn’t got up yet.

Never :không bao giờ, chưa bao giờ

IV. Adding ing to the verb in the present continuous

+Most verds just add ing
Ex: wear –wearing. Go – going. Cook-cooking
+if the infinitive ends in ‘e’ ,drop the ‘e’ ang add ing
Ex: write=writing .smile-smiling
+when a one syllable verd have one vowel and ends in a consosant,double the consosant.
Ex: sit- sitting. Get – getting . Run - running
Note

Don’t use verd of perception with present continuous such as :like
, love, hate, need, feel, know, understand,etc
