Unit 13: Lesson : Entertainment – reading (cont)
I. Aims :
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to skim for general ideas.
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to scan for specific details.
II. Lexical items :
- melting pot -world-renown -criticism
- exhibition -mislead
III. Structures :
- It is in its major cities that many concerts and theatrical performances are found.
- Many movies produced in the USA are watched nightly by millions of people both in the US
and around the world.
IV. Teaching aids:
- textbook - picture / drawings
- chalk - handouts

- Skill – based ( reading, speaking)

remember”
- rub out the words and leave the
explanations on the board.
- point at each explanation and have SS
speak out the word

-Arrange SS to work in pairs.
-Ask SS to scan the text and read the
statements and say if they are true, false
or not mentioned in the text.
-Move around to monitor unobtrusively.
-Tell SS to compare answers in small
groups.
-Call on SS to read the statements and say
their choice.
-Encourage SS to give explanations for
their choice
-Go over the answers with the class.
