1. Pronouns: (Đại từ)
Đại từ được chia làm 5 loại với các chức năng sử dụng khác nhau. Bao gồm:
- Subject pronouns (Đại từ nhân xưng chủ ngữ): I/ You/ We/ They/ He/ She/ It. Đại
từ nhân xưng chủ ngữ còn gọi là đại từ nhân xưng thường đứng ở vò trí
chủ ngữ trong câu hoặc đứng sau động từ TOBE.
Ex: We have lived here for twenty years.
- Complement pronouns (Đại từ nhân xưng tân ngữ).
- Possessive pronouns (Đại từ sở hữu).
- Possessive adjectives (Tính từ sở hữu): My/ Your/ Our/ Their/ His/ Her/ Its. Tính từ
sở hữu khác với đại từ sở hữu ở chỗ nó bổ nghóa cho danh từ chứ không
thay thế cho danh từ. Gọi là tính từ sở hữu vì nó thể hiện tính chất sở hữu
của người hoặc vật đối với danh từ đi sau. Chú ý rằng cũng dùng tính từ

sở hữu đối với các bộ phận trên cơ thể.

- Am = ‘m, am not = ‘m not.
- Is = ‘s, is not = isn’t
