UNIT 15 INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Period 85

A. Aims: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to
- talk about international organizations and their roles in the world
- report on discussion results and use it in the real life.
1. Knowledge:
- General knowledge: Students can gain knowledge of some international organizations
- Language: asking and answering international organizations
- New words: words related to some international organizations
2. Skills: - Talking about international organizations
B. Methods: integrated, mainly communicative
C. Teaching aids : Textbook, posters, pictures, ….
D. Procedures:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES
I. WARM – UP ( 5min.)
- Divides the class into 2 groups: Each group tells
and presents some of the sports. The group gives
more names will be the winner
- Calls 2 groups to present their results on the
board
- Corrects pronunciation and mistakes
- Declares the winner
 Introduces the new lesson

"In today’s speaking section, you will practice


Talking about some international organizations"

II. PRESENTATION ( 35 min.)
1. Pre-speaking:
* Checking: ROR
* Discuss the questions (page 155)
1. What does WHO stand for?
2. When was WHO established?
3. What is its major objective?
4. What are its main activities?

2. While – speaking
Task 1: Asks students to read the passage
answer the questions.
- Calls some students to speak
- Corrects pronunciation and gives answers
- Lets students work in pairs
- Goes round to check their activities
- Calls some students to practise speaking

Task 2: Ask and answer about the International
organizations.(UNICEF & WWF).

* Expected answers
GR 1: WHO, UNO, …
GR 2: TWO, UNICEF …

- Listen, discuss, answer and copy

- Go to the board to match

Task 1
1. Who stands for the World Health Organization.
2. It was established on 7 April 1948
3. Its major objective is the attainment by all peoples of
the highest possible level of health
4. Its main activities are carrying out research on
medical development and improving international health
care

Task 2 :
- Look at the book
- Work in pairs: Ask and answer
- Listen to their friends

Task 3: Tell a partner what you know about
one of the above mentioned international
organization. Use the information from Task 1
and 2

- Goes round to provide help
- Calls some students to speak loudly in front of
the class
- Corrects pronunciation and gives comments
- Gives marks

III. CONSOLIDATION & HOMEWORK (5')
