SEAM SEALING PROCESS
1. Send the fabric to the

seal tape supplier for
testing and suggesting
•
the appropriate seal
tape
2. Make mock up 40cm x
40cm from actual fabric
and stitch in plus shape ( +
) with actual seal tape
MOCK UP TESTING
3. Send the mock up to its lab for testing, if
ok approve & follow same condition for
production
If not ok , remake the mock up in the same
manner as before but with revised
machine settings.

TESTING PARAMETERS
•
THE BASELINE STANDARD IS 2000 mm
water for 2 minutes
•
Then increase 1000 mm water for every
30 seconds
•
Keep increasing until you reach the
breaking point.

4. The approved seam sealing machine
setting must be clear to the operator and
technician. the parameters must be
available at the machine.
MACHINE SETTING STANDARD
•
SPEED OF THE MACHINE – 4
Meters/Minute
•
TEMPRATURE – 530 to 550 Degrees Celsius
•
HOT AIR PRESSURE – 1.1 to 1.3 kg/cm2
•
ROLLER PRESSURE – 5 kg/cm2
•
Generally this is the setting but it will be
different for different fabrics and different
machine brands.
ADJUST THE MACHINE AS
STANDARD
6. make sure the
machine setting is
as per the
approved standard.
WATER PROOFING TEST IN
FACTORY
5. The output has to be tested atleast
2 times a day for water proofing
ability of seal tape. while testing the
pressure has to be 3 psi for 2 to 3
minutes.
The record of test
must be maintained
& available at the
machine.

WORKING PROCEDURE
7. Before starting seam sealing machine
should be running idle for 5 minutes.
8. After joining the panels QC must check
the seam & cut thread clean so that all
topstitch will be smooth.
ATTACH SEAM SEALING
Operator has to be careful while doing seam
sealing to avoid breaking or joints.
Do not use overlap seal tape more than once if
there is a break. if more than once the seam
becomes thick and stiff.
CONTROL PROCEDURE
9. After attach seam sealing tape QC check
100% all seams
No puckering, must be smooth
No open seam
No run off seal tape
SEAM APPREARANCE MUST BE
AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE
AFTER SEAM SEALING.
CONTROL PROCEDURE
10. Water pressure testing is mandatory at the
first out put every day.
First 10 pcs of the day should be kept for
testing but testing should always be done
after atleast 30 minutes, so that seal tape is
cool enough and bond properly.
11. Testing result must meet the standard
time – minimum 2 minutes
pressure – minimum 3 psi.
