3. Listen and repeat.

-Tell Ss to do the task in pairs.
-Then call some pairs to ask and answer.
-Correct pronunciation.

first , then plays the recording for them to
listen and repeat the words

RULES: How to pronounce the final s, es
+ /Z/ Final -S is pronounced /Z/ after voiced
sounds (b,d,g,h.m.l. . ) and any vowel sounds .
Eg : beds . dogs, cans, rooms
+ /S/ Final -S is pronounced /S/ after voiceless
sounds (t,p,k, f, )
Eg: cats. lamps , books, months
+ /IZ/ Final -ES is pronounced /IZ/ after s, z, ∫ ,
t∫, d

correctly and appropriately.

I. WARM UP : Chain game

-T asks Ss to look at the two pictures of
the two rooms and asks them what the
first room has and what the 2

does not have
- T writes -Ss’s answers on the board , at the same
time asks Ss to use the “there is , there
isn’t , there are , there aren’t” structure to
make sentences

-T checks the meaning , use ,and form of
the structure.
-Explains if the noun is sinular or
uncountable, we use “is” even if after
this noun there are some other plural
nouns.
Eg: there is a dog and two cats un der
the table.
- Ss give more examples.

*Form :
- Affirmative & Negative :
There is (not) + singular noun/ uncountable noun
There are (not) + plural noun
- Questions and short answers
-Is there a . . . ? -Yes, there is / No there isn’t
-Are there + . . ? -Yes, there are/ No , there aren’t
*Meaning : Có ai, cái gì (ở nơi nào)
* Use : Diễn tả sự tồn tại của một, nhiều
người, vật (ở nơi nào).

2. There are 30 students in the room.
- Ss work in pairs.
-Go round and correct mistakes or give
help when necessary.
- T asks Ss to write positive and
negative sentences , using the cues
- Ss write the sentences individually
then go to the board to write their
sentences
- Other Ss and T feedbacks ( all the
sentences are accepted if they make
sense )
- T asks Ss to look at the picture and
complete the description in pairs.
- Ss compare their answers , then give

1. How to write an e-mail to a friend :
-In the subject line , write briefly what the e-
mail is about
-Begin the e-mail with a greeting ( Dear / Hi /
Hello )
-The parts of an e-mail : 3 parts
+ Introduction :
- Ask about her/his health
- Thank him/her for the previous e-mail or
write the reason for e-mailing
+ Body :
- Write the subject(s) of the e-mail , write
each subject in a new paragraph
+ Conclusion:
- Saying goodbye
- Asking him/her to write back
- Sending regards to her /his family

- Ss draw their own crazy house and tell the
group about their house . Alternatively , each
group can draw a crazy house together then
tell the class about their house . The class
vote for the best crazy house . If there is no
time left , this part can be done at home as
homework
