Thanks you very much for your maill. I am very happy to receive it. How are you?
I had a two day holiday with my family in Ha Long last week. It was very interesting. Ha Long is about 200kms far from Ha Noi and It took
us 3 hours to go by car.
We stayed in Cong Doan hotel, it took us minutes to walk to a very beautiful.
In the first morning, we went to the beach, played football, swam and took a lot of photos. In the afternoon, We hired bicycles to go around
the place. In the evening we held a party near the beach. We danced and had seafood, cakes, beer.
In the next morning, we get up early to watch the sunrise and swam. It was very nice. After that we came back to the hotel to have breakfast.
After breakfast, we went to the maket to buy some seafood such as crabs, shells, fish,… and we had lunch in Cong doan restaurant. In the
afternoon, we came back to Ha Noi by car. Everyone was tired but very happy.
I hope that you will have a chance to visit VN, then we will have a trip to Nha Trang which is considered as a pearl in VN.

As you know, VN is a very beautiful place for everyone to visit. The first place you should visit is Halong bay. It is one of the word
wonders. It is regarded as the most beautiful site in our country.
You should also visit Dalat. It is a fascinating city the mountain with Xuan Huong lake, cam ly waterfall and there are a lot of farms with
different kinds of colorful flowers.
The next place you should visit is Nha trang. It is intersting to go swimming in the clear sea water, watch the sunrise, sit or lie in the sun,
walk a long the beach in the early morning. It is very nice to visit Vinpearl island, Baodai villa,…
There are many other attractive place for you to visit in my country.

weekends. I also play tennis every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. For me sport are very wonderful. I feel comfortable after playing sport

The film I like most is ‘Titalic’. The music of the film is very beautiful. The actresses and actors in the film are very lovely, young, beautiful
and handsome. I felt touched and sometimes I cried while watching the film.

As you know, E is an international language and it is necessary for my job and my life.
I like learning E. I have been learning E for two year. I go to my E class every Sunday.

Our teacher is a good person. He is a young teacher. He is also an experienced teacher. He teachs me how to speak, to listen, to read and to
write in E. He tries to help me to become a good E speaker.
There are 30 students in my E class, 20 men and 10 women. We come from different provinces. However, we usually contact with each
other after class. I think my E is getting better and better.
I hope I can use E well in my job after I finish the course.

My favotite is Hai Yen restaurant in Ha Dong city. Now Hai Yen restaurant is more modem than it was. It is a beautiful place with good
new equipments. I feel comfortable there.
We often come there on special occasions. There is plenty of good food in Hai Yen Restaurant. I like this restaurant because of it is various
dishes, the beautiful view, the good service and the reasonable prices. Also there is a large parking lot where I can park my car easily.

I like watching television but I am very busy with a new project at the moment, so I don’t have much time to enjoy it. However, I always
watch the news, especially the news in the evening from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM on VTV1 channel.
Watching the news is one of my habit. It helps me to know what is happening in our country and the world. I also like watching the weather
forecast program at the end of news. I think it is very important to know what the weather is like every day so that I can know what clothes to put
on and whether I have to bring a raicoat to work. I also like the sports coverage after the weather forecast. It’s really lively with the new sports
events In VN and in the World. That’s all for now.

As you know, I have just moved to a new house in the Ha Noi city. It is a nice small house with 3 floors. The sitting room is on the ground floor.
The kitchen is on the fist floor and the bedroom is on the second floor. There is a toilet on each floor.
In the sitting room there is a sofa, a table, a TV and six chairs. There is also a standing fan and a clock on the wall. In my kitchen there is a
cooker, a fridge, a basin with a tap, a ceiling fan,…
In the bedroom, there is a bed, a wardrobe, a table and two chairs. There is a beautiful lamp next to my bed and there are some pictures on the
wall.
My house is very nice and I love it very much. I feel very cosy in the house. I hope will visit my house someday.

There are many traditional festivals in my country. One of the most important festivals in VN is the New year. In my country people
welcome the New Year in special ways. This festival is called Tet Holiday in VN. For this special holiday all families have Chung cakes,
peach flowers and other food such as sweets, beef, chicken, fish.
Tet holiday is the time for family members to see each other. We are happy to get together . Every one come back home with joy and
happiness.
On Tet Holiday, everyone wears new clother, have various delicious food, visit pagodas, relativer, friends and exchange best wishes to each
other. Children get lucky money in red envelopes from grandparents, parents and the other. People think that this money bring the children
good luck and happiness.
I love Tet Holiday very much. It is very special to me. I am very happy on this occasion. I hope you will come to Viet Nam to enjoy Vietnamese New

Toppic 1: Discribe the lastest technological item you often use at home or work.
The lastest technological item I often use at home or work is my computer. I got it three years ago and it cost one thousand. My computer is
manufactured Dell and it gives me the benefits not only in studying but also I working.
First, my computer can hell me to type document or do caculation exactly.
Second, when my computer connected to internet, it becames an unlimited container of information. I can read book, save data and search
information concern with my work or study. I can exchange ideas with my friend, my coworker through email. It help to broaden my
knowledge in many fields. Nowadays, we are able to stay at home to take part in online courses. This in really convenient.
Finally, with my conputer I can listen to music, see a film or play game after hard work. This make me relax.
In conclusion, my computer is very useful and I like using it very much.
Toppic 2: Discribe a technological item you have that is important to you.
I think a computer is the most useful machine to me. It is a wonderful invention that can be used for many different kinds of work. It also
gives me the benefits not only in studying but also in working.
First, a computer can help me to write something or do calculation fast and exactly.
Second, when a computer is connected to internet, it becomes an unlimited container of information. I can read book, save data and search
information concern with my work or study. I can exchange ideas with my friends, my coworker through email. It helps to broaden my
knowledge in many fields. Nowadays, we are able to stay at home to take part in online courses. This is really convenient.
Finally, with a computer I can listen to music, see a film or play games after hard work. This makes me relax. However, a computer harms
my health and wastes my time if I abuse it. There are the disadvantages of having a computer.
Thus I have to use a computer logically to gain the best result in my work. It is very useful for me.
Toppic 3: Talk about one way have used to keep t and healthy.
If you want to have good health, you should follow these pieces of advice:
First, you should eat healthy food: lots of fruits, vegetable, fish and drink enough water everyday. The Japanese eat a lot of fish so they have
a long life. You should also eat less red meat and fast food because they may cause heart diseases and increase the cholesterol in your blood.
Fruits and vegetables not only bring you lots of vitamins and minerals but also help you have a better immune system.
Second, you should exercise everyday by choosing a suitable sport such as jogging, tennis, badminton, swimming. If you don’t have much
time you just need to do morning excercises regulaly. Playing sport not only keep you fit and healthy but also help you relax as well.
Finally, you need to have a regulaly check up health. If you have any problem with your health, you should go to the doctor immediately
before it gets more serious. You should visit the doctor regulaly in order to find out any diseases you may have, so that you have a better
chance to get rid of it.
In short If you take this advice you will have good health.
Topic 4: Talk about a job you have done or know about.
I should say I have a job of my dream. Actualy, I’m working as an officer for Ha Noi department of Information and communication. It is
comfortable working condition such as I have modern equipments, oversea business trips, monthly training. My coworkers are very friendly.
They tell me jokes and make me lough. My manager is very nice, too. He treat us very well and he gives bonus if we work effectively.
I can get a salary every 3 years. I go to work by motobike and I start work at 8 a.m and finish work at 5 p.m. At work, I type ducuments,
make policies and reply all questions of people. I think it is my good job and I like my job very much.
Topic 5: Describe your favorite form of transportation.
I should say I like travelling by motobike most for two reasons:
First, Because it is very convenient, I can stop or go anytime I want or anywhere I can. I don’t have to depend on a fixed time table like
travelling by plane, bus or train. A part from that, motobike is really suitable with traffic situation in VN. There are a lot of traffic jams in
most of big cities like in Ha Noi.
The second reason why I like travelling by motobike is that it is very economical. As you know, the price for most kind of motobikes are
affordable to most of people. In addition,the motobike doesn’t use a lot of fuel so that I don’t spend a lot of money on petrol. The
maintenance cost is not very high, it is about 1 milions dong each time.
Although I like travelling by motobike for these reason, I still see some disadvantages. for example, It is not very safe and it is not very
comfortable when I travel in the rain and in the sun.
For the two reason with economical and convenient, motobike is still my favorite form of transportation.
Topic 6: Describe a big city/town you know well.
There are going to tell you about the city I know very well. Do you inViet Nam, there are a lot of big cities, such as HCM city or Da Nang
or Vung Tau or Hai Phong and Ha Noi, but the city I know very well is Ha Noi because I have been living here about 30 years.
On the plus side I can see that HN has a lot of advantages. First, HN has very good infrastructure. You can see, there are a lot of good
hospitals and schools around in HN. Apart from that, HN has a lot of entertainment centers for people to relax afer working hard. The
second advantage is that, it has good job opportunites because there are alot of companies or factories and offices in HN. The last advantage
of HN is that it has good communication with the world outside. There are a lot of embassies, cultural centers and many foreigners come to
HN to work, to study and to visit.
However the minus side is so clear. HN has very big population and this lead many problems. Firstly, there are many traffic jams espicial in
rush hour. Secondly, HN has polluted enviroment which is caused by too many vehicles. And finally, HN has a plenty of social evils such as
of robbery, theft, murder, kid napping and so on.
So weighing everything up, I think HN has a lot of advantages, therefore I like HN very much.
Topic 7: Difficulties of living in the place where you are living now.
The place where I’m living now is Ha Noi. Although there are a lot of advantages, I still recognize many disadvantages.
The first disadvantage is pollution and noise pollution which comes from a lot of construction site everywhere in HN. Another reason is that,
there are many roads with a lot of cars and motorbikes.
The second disadvantage is infrastructure which is too old and not convenient enough. Infact, most of buildings, roads or schools were built
a long time ago, examples 20 or 30 or 40 years ago. In addition, there are few play ground for children, few entertainment centers and a lot
of traffic jams.
Last but not least, the service in HN is not very good and very expensive. In fact, the roads were very dirty with a lot of rubblish and the
electricity supply is not constant. Apart from that, the cost service is very expensive, for example you have pay 1 million a month to keep
car or about 300 thousand dong a month to keep a motobike.
In conclustion there are a lot of difficulties of living in HN. However my family and my friends lived here and worked here. That right, I
prefer living in HN.
Topic 8: Talk about a school subject you liked when you were younger.
When I was a pupil at high school I studied physics for 3 years and I liked this subject very much. It is a natural science. In this subject I
studied mechanic, electrical engineering, photonic, thermal and so on. I was taughr by a female teacher. He was about 40 years old. He was
tall and thin, very kind and fun. To study physic, I need some books and equipments so that I learned theory and did experiment. There are 2
reasons why I like physics.
Firstly, this subject had a lot of experiments and I found them very interesting.
And secondly, physics explained all natural phenonmenon. This make me to understand the world around me better.
In conclusion, physics was my favourite school subject.
Topic 9: Describe an ambition you had when you were young.
When I was young, I had an ambition to be a teacher. I want to become a teacher because I think teacher is the best job in all of jobs.
Firstly, it is the best repected job in the world. Teacher helps cultivate next generation for the country. It is very crucial to the development
of the whole nation.
Secondly, Teacher has a lot of time to relax, to learn new things and knowledge.
Finally, If I am a teacher, I have a lot of experience and knowledge to teacher my children. I think this is the most important problem for
me.
In conclusion, I like to become a teachet most.
Topic 10: Describe a project you had to do on your oun or with others as part of your studies or work.
I am an engineer and I graduated in 2005 at Ha Noi unversity of science and technology. At the 5
th
year, I have done a lecture to be
graduated my lecture name is WCDMA technology overview. This is a difficult topic because at that time noone has done this topic to finish
this lecture. I have to read the ducuments in English
There are two reason why I chose this lecture.
Firstly, this is a new mobile technology and being applied in many coutries around the world.
Secondly, I want to have good a job in the mobile companies in VN after I graduated.
In cunclusion, I think I chose this lecture is right because of the knowledge I have when I study this lecture help my job very much.
Exercise 1: Can you tell me about your work, your hobbies and interests and say what you
hope to do while you are In England?

I am thirty years old and I am studying at university. I learn lots of different subjects, but my favorites
are languages. In my free time, I like to go swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter. I am also
keen on reading, especially detective novels and technical books. When I have time, I like to go
shopping with my friends because we enjoy trying on new clothes, sometimes eat in the restaurant on
weekends.

We spent a lot of time travelling in caves which are so wonderful. We were so surprised as seeing
stalactites there. We feel they are so fanciful like we are in heaven. And the atmosphere was so fresh,
that made us feel comfortable and relax. Besides, I stayed in a 5-star hotel and they served
localspecialities like marine shrimps, sea crabs and so on which are very delicious.

It feels like such a long time since the last time I saw you. I know it is two or three months since I saw
you.
I heard that you will come to my country for a month. I think you have not decided where to go and
what to do there, don’t I ? In my opinion, the best place I suggest is Hanoi. Hanoi is the capital of
Vietnam. It is the national center of culture and politics. Old Square is the most exciting place in
Hanoi. There are 36 streets named by different types of goods sold such as Hang Than Street, Hang
Dao Street and so on. These streets are narrow with the width of about 2 meters. However, citizens in
the past lived here and created the proud history and extraordinary cuisine of Hanoi. You could not
say that you came to Hanoi if you have not enjoyed ‘Pho’ which is the most famous food in Hanoi in
particular and Vietnam in general. Besides, there are many historical monuments and scenic spots
like Hanoi flagpole, Uncle Ho mausoleum and so forth. These ones are Vietnamese pride.

this sport. To keep ball not to fall into the ground, we have to run around and jump a lot, which makes
us burn our energy. The more energy is burnt, the healthier we get. Playing sports helps us develop
team spirit. By virtue of playing sports, we can keep fit and relax effectively. As soon as possible, I

young, dynamic and kind. We usually have lots of activities in class such as singing English
songs, playing games and so on. Sometimes we go for a picnic in order to practice our
English with foreigners and relax after a long learning time. That also makes us strengthen
team spirit among people. In my opinion, my English class is great.

fantastic restaurant with various types of food. It’s a small one located on Nguyen Dang Ninh Street.
Although it’s small, its food is so great. I like buffet best because I can freely choose a variety of food
and it’s also cheaper than the other ones. Moreover, from the second floor, there is a good
sightseeing in order to see the city in the evening. Last but not least, we are able to chat with each
other comfortably.

As you remember, I’ve just moved to my new house. It’s quite near my company. There are 5
rooms including a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. Its spread is 100
square meters. Although it’s not large, for a person it’s quite suitable. I like furniture which is
made from wood such as wood closets, chairs, tables and so on because it brings me to seem
to be at home. Therefore, I feel comfortable when I live there.

Thank you a lot for your last letter. It was a nice surprise to hear from you. I am so sorry I haven’t
written to you earlier because I was so busy to organize my work.
As you remember, the first 3 months of the year is the festival season in my country; however, the
biggest one which is Hung King festival is taking place in Phu Tho Province in March in Lunar
Calendar. It is organized to celebrate Hung King’s effort on building up our country. Every year people
from many places come there to relax after a long working time and visit some beauty spots.
I still have more to tell you; however, I don’t have enough time to do it. I will share more in next letter.
