I. Aims
1. Knowledge: Students remember the grammar structures of regular verbs
/irregular verbs in the simple past and how to use the simple past tense to tell
things/events happened in the past.
2. Skills: Practise reading and speaking.
3. Attitude : Ss are voluntary and active.
II. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to

- Use Past simple to make sentences.

Ask Ss to look at these sentences and explain
what tense is it?.

Starter
- Ask Ss to read the words and give the past
simple of these words.ask them to pay
attention on irregular verbs.
Students \vork in pairs and say the Past
Simple of the verbs in the box. If they have
problems with the form of any of the irregular


verbs, refer them to the irregularverb list on

Ask students to look at the three photos and say
what they can see . Ask Ss to name people in the

Three inventors
1. The dates in the texts are all incorrect.
Read and listen, and correct the dates.
Students read the three texts, checking new
words in their dictionaries. The following words

will probably be new:
