 Câu trực tiếp: ta nhắc lại nguyên văn.
_ He said: “I like sea food”.
 Câu gián tiếp: ta tường thuật lại lời nói.
_ He said that he liked sea food.
 Statement in reported speech: câu phát
biểu (xác đònh, phủ đònh) trong lời nói gián tiếp:

 Khi đổi sang lời nói gián tiếp, ta cần:
a.  said to → told
 có hoặc không có “that”
_ She said to me: “I often watch TV”
→ She told me (that) she often watched TV.
b. Chuyển đổi các đại từ nhân xưng … cho phù
hợp
_ Mary said: “I often go out”
→ Mary said that she often went out.
c. Ta lùi thì lại cho tương ứng (hiện tại → quá
khứ)
_ She said “I will be in Paris on Monday”
→ She said that she would be in Paris on Monday.
