SUMMARY

EVALUATING THE INITIAL EFFECTS OF EMPLEMENTATION PERSISTENT
DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS CLOSURE BY AMPLATZER AND PERCUTANEOUS
BALLOON PULMONARY VALVULOPLASTY IN NGHE AN PEDIATRICS
HOSPITAL

Background: Patent ductus arteriosus closure and percutaneous balloon pulmolnary
valvuloplasty have been shown safe an effective.
Objectives: to review the short- term safety and efficacy of patent ductus arteriosus closure
and percutaneous balloon pulmolnary valvuloplasty at Nghe an pediatrics hospital, Vietnam.
Methods: Retrospective study in patients undergone patent ductus arteriosus closure and
percutaneous balloon pulmolnary valvuloplasty from august, 2009 to march, 2011 at Nghe an
pediatrics hospital, Vietnam. We noted the results and complications of the procedure,
monitoring clinical and echocardiography to test immediately postintervention and 1 - 4 - 10 - 18
months later.
Results: There were 30 patients with persistent ductus arteriosus, 10 patients with
pulmonary valvular stenosis. The success in patent ductus arteriosus subgroup of 96,67%
(29/30), in pulmonary valvular stenosis of 100% (10/10). No patients death. There was one case
of hematuria post amplatzer closure for patent ductus arteriosus and one case of falling amplatzer
occluder in to left pulmonary artery.
Conclusions: interventional Patent ductus arteriosus closure and percutaneous balloon
pulmolnary valvuloplasty have been shown safe and effective in short term with a very low rate
of mortality and adverse effect.


