What are the causes of air pollution in Ha Noi?
You can still live without eating for 5 weeks, drinking for 5 days. But if you
don’t breath for 5 minutes, you will die. Air is one of the most important things we
need in our life, but we don’t appreciate it highly. Although we depend on it, live
on it everytime, we don’t know air pollution is happening very seriously in many
places around the world, including our capital - Ha Noi. The causes that pollute the
air are mainly the exhaust from vehicle, industrial sources and waste.
Among this causes of pollution, vehicle emissions are probably the biggest.
In Ha Noi, 70% of air pollution is from motor vehicles. The more modern this city
is, the more vehicles are. There is at least one motobike in each households. Motor
vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than
any other single activity. Fumes from car exhaust contain dangerous gases. On the
other hand, vehicles aren’t fixed and maintained because most people don’t
understand

the consequences of vehicle emissions and the effects of the

maintenance to reduce exhaust and save power. Meanwhile, our road symtem is
small and narrow; vehicles carring construction materials scatter sandy soil on
roads that causes dust and dirt reducing air quanlity.
Industrial sources are also essential causes of air- pollution in Ha Noi. The
exhaust are released from industry factories, which are being built more and more
in suburbs of Ha Noi. Many factories are in state of the art technology deposing
exhaust very well; but the others don’t. Moreover, the amount of this exhaust isn’t
under the strict control of management bodis. The process of fuel burning and
handling releases toxic gas, then through chimneys to enter the air. The factor
contributing to air pollution is also the build up of industry. In urbanization


process, constructions are built. Pollutants arising from activities of maintaining

and renewing infrastructures, roads, brigdes… are also the major cause of poor air
quality in suburbs.
The next cause of air pollution in Ha Noi is waste. All waste has
the potential to affect the environment by contaminating the air. We still litter
everyday but we don’t know how many tons garbage need disposing in hugo
landfills. It is steadily becoming harder to breathe these days as the waste includes
a lot of toxic, bacteria… and its smell is very unpleasant. They are very harmful for
health of people and dangerous for many creature. Do you realize you are living
with toxic, breathing dirty air?
In conclusion, the air pollution in Ha Noi is the difficult problem which can’t
be solved in short time. It is also the common problem of the global. It's necessary
to understand the issues and look for ways to counter it. Anybody can take steps to
reduce air pollution. Rather than driving a car or riding a motorcycle, you can ride
a bicycle or walk to perform errands. Try to reduce trips and use public
transportation…We must be responsible for our act and always keep our city green,
clean and beautiful.
