1 Grammar
a. to infinitive
- Write some sentences on the board and
underline the to – infinitive:
+I have something to eat.
+Does he get anything to drink.
+there is plenty to do.
- Ask Ss to comment on the use of to-
infinitive in these examples.
b. infinitive without to
we can use a noun or pronoun object +bare
infinitive after verb of perception such as feel,
hear, watch, see, notice, observe, perceive,
smell...the bare infinitive generally refers to
the complete action.
+ We use the bare infinitive after let and make
- Give examples:
Nothing can make him cry.
She could hear them talk about their plan

c. gerund
+ form: V-ing: studying, reading…
+ Use: - Subjects
- Write in and make sentences with these
words.

2. I have some letters to write.

4. My mother has some shopping to do.
5. It’s lovely to see you again.
6. It’s too cold to go out.
7. I’m happy to know that you have passed the
exams.
8. The police watched them get out of the car.
9. They let him write a letter to his wife.
10. I heard them talk in the next room.
11. The customs officer made him open the
briefcase.
12.The boy saw the cat jump through the
window.
13. Do you think the company will make him
pay some extra money.
14. I felt the animal move towards me.
15. Do you think her parents will let her go on
a picnic?
