1. Conditional sentences (Type 1):
If clause Main clause

2. Unless:
- Trong mệnh đề điều kiện, ta có thể
thay liên từ “if” = “unless”.
- Unless tương đương với “if ...not”
* Note : Trường hợp mẹnh đề if ở
thể khẳng đònh không được đổi sang
thể phủ đònh khi dùng unless mà
phải đổi mệnh đề chính theo thể
ngược lại

using unless instead of if:
a/ If you are not careful, you will cut
yourself with that knife.
b/ If you do not like this one, I’ll
bring you another.
c/ If she does not hurry, she will be
late .
d/ I’ll not be able to do any work if I
don’t have a quiet room.
e/ If she doesn’t water these tress,
they will die.
f/ He will not stay here if he wants to
go.

- And ( và ) : Là từ nối được dùng để
nối các từ, cụm từ hay mạnh đề .
- But (nhưng) : Dùng để nối hai ý
tương phản nhau.

- Or (hay, hoặc) : Dùng để diển tả ý
lựa chọn
- So ( vì thế, do đó):diễn tả hậu quả .
- Because ( bởi vì, do): Diễn tả
nguyên nhân, lý do.
- Therefore (do đó, vì thế): Đồng
nghóa với so, chỉ hậu quả.
- However ( tuy nhiên): Đồng nghóa
với “but” nhưng “however” luôn
luôn nối liền hai mệnh đề, diễn tả sự
tương phản.

là mệnh đề phụ, thường được bắt
đầu bằng các liên từ như: as,
because, since.
