Waiter:
Good afternoon sir, madam.
Mr Smith:
Hi, we have a reservation for lunch. The name is Smith.
Waiter:
Yes sir. May I take your jackets?
The waiter takes their jackets and hangs them up. They go to their table.
Waiter:
Are you ready to order sir?
Mr Smith:
Yes, I would like the soup to start. Then I’ll have the grilled chicken.
Waiter:
Certainly sir, and for you madam?
Mrs Smith:
I’m not sure.. What’s the ‘special’ today?
Waiter:
The special today is roast lamb served with Spring vegetables.
Mrs Smith
Yes, that sounds great. I’ll take the lamb and to start and... Could I have the
mixed seafood?
Waiter:
I’m sorry madam, I’m afraid the mixed seafood isn’t available today.
Mrs Smith:
Oh, I see. I’ll just have a salad then.
Waiter
Certainly madam, and would you like to order some drinks?
Mr Smith
I’d like a glass of red wine please.
Waiter
And for you madam?
Mrs Smith
I’ll have a glass of white please.
Waiter
Certainly madam. So that’s the soup and a salad to start, followed by the
grilled chicken and the roast lamb. I’ll bring your drinks right over.
Mrs Smith
Thank you.
The food is served. Mr and Mrs Smith eat their meal.
Mr Smith
Well, that was delicious. What did you think dear?
Mrs Smith
It was lovely, I think we should come back again for dinner!
