T introduces the spelling and sound forms
together with meanings of some new words and
phrases.

Practice
T lets sts listen to the tape, read the passage and

places.

Warm up
T shows sts pictures of President HCM’s
Mausoleum, Hue Imperial City and Thong Nhat
Conference Hall and asks them to tell exactly
their names and what they know about these
historical places.

Sts do as inquired.

Presentation
T shows sts a list of notes about HCM’s
Mausoleum and asks them how to make
questions for each item.

Sts list the questions they can make about the
items.


Suggested questions:
- Where is President HCM’s Mausoleum
situated? (place)

- It’s situated …

- When did the construction of the Mausoleum
start/ finish?

- It started / finished in …

- How many floors are there in the Mausoleum?
- What is the use of each floor?

Practice
Task 1: Asking and answering
T asks sts to work in pairs to ask and answer the
questions on the Mausoleum using the notes and
questions given if necessary.

Sts practice in pairs.

Task 2: Talking about historical places.
T asks sts to work in pairs, take turns to act as a
tourist guide and give a short introduction to
either of the 2 historical places: Hue Imperial
City or Thong Nhat Conference Hall using the
given information.

Sts do as inquired.

Task 3: Group work.
T asks sts to mingle to ask other members of the
group questions about the historical places they
have been to or know about, note down the
main information and then report to the class

what they have learned about those places.
Sts work in groups.
CONSOLIDATION
Homework: Prepare the next lesson and write a
brief introduction to somewhere they know.
