Role play – Teamwork – SPECIAL EVENT
(four players)

Role A
You have a very important project to organise for your boss. It is to organise an event to celebrate
the 75th Birthday of the Company.
You are the Marketing Manager, and have to work with the Sales Manager, the Production
Manager and the Finance Manager.
The Sales Manager does not like you, he is already getting angry over some decisions you have
made earlier on some Merchandising you have had sent in to his Flagship store.
The Finance Manager is currently in dispute with the Production Manager over production costs.
On top of this your boss the Marketing Director has a very low opinion of the Finance Manager and
the Sales Manager and is not likely to take anything they say seriously.
Your job is to stop the bickering and get them all to work together, but when you enter the meeting
room the they are already at each others throats and the Finance Manager has just accused the
Production Manager of mismanaging his budget again.
You need to get them to work together … but how?


Role B
You are the Sales Manager and you have been asked to work on an important Project. You have
been told you will be working with the Marketing Manager, the Finance Manager and the Production
Manager.
You are not happy with working with the Marketing Manager and have a very low opinion of him/her
because they are constantly making decisions behind your back.
You are not particularly pleased to see the Finance Manager as he has cut your budget again to pay
for this special event.
As for the Production Manager, he let you down. One of your important clients needed a special
production run on the new marble top tables for an internal promotion the company was having, and
the Production Manager had said it was impossible.
You are expected to partake in this meeting and work as a team, but there is no one here you have

any respect for.
You need to see an important client at 3pm and this meeting looks like it is going to take a long time.
You don’t want to work on this project but your boss the Sales Director has insisted… what do you
do?


Role C
You are the Production Manager and have been asked to work on a special project. Your problem is
that, you have to work on a team which includes the Finance Manager. You have just about had
enough of him/her as they have been criticising production costs
The Finance Manager can not understand that the price of raw materials has just gone up so of
course the cost of production has increased.
You also have to work with the Marketing and Sales Manager both of which have been trying to get
you to do more work for various reasons. You are not happy to see either one of them.
On top of this you have so much work to do on the factory floor that you really don’t have time for
this.
You don’t want to work on this project but your boss the Production Director has insisted… what do
you do?


Role D
You are the Finance Manager and have been asked to work on a special project . You have been
asked to work on a team with the Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and the Production Manager.
You don’t particularly like any of them. You think that the Sales Manager is too shifty, the Production
Manager is terrible at managing money, and the Marketing Manager seems to spend money as
though it was water.
You have been asked to manage costs on this project but you already notices costs spiralling out of
control.
You think that the project is a total waste of your valuable time.
You don’t want to work on this project but your boss the Finance Director has insisted… what do you

do?
