Specimen Assessor’s Copy
In order to prepare for the assessment and to gather any materials or props to be used,
Assessors are allowed to open their copy at the start of the three-week period before the
Reading and Writing test date but no sooner.
The contents must not be disclosed to candidates until 15 minutes prior to assessment.

No additional materials are required.

 Candidates may be assessed on 4 separate occasions during the 3 weeks before the
test date. This may be a repeat assessment of the same scenario, or they may
choose a different one.
 Each assessment should last between 5 and 10 minutes. This can include making
the candidate comfortable, enabling him/her to be familiar with the process and

Turn to page 2 of your answer booklet and listen as I read the instructions.

Read:

This paper has two passages. Each passage describes a short situation which
is outlined in your answer booklet. Within each passage you will hear a
message, or a talk, or information, or an announcement, or a set of instructions.
Each passage and the questions will be read twice.
On the first occasion, I will read the passage in full followed by the questions on
it. You may, if you wish, write your answers to the questions at this stage.
On the second occasion, the passage will be read in paragraphs. After each
paragraph I will read the questions on it for you to answer.
There is a column on the page for you to write notes while you are listening.
The notes will not be marked.
Write your answer to each question in the space provided. Answer all the
questions.
In your answers, try to write the words and figures as clearly as possible.
Dictionaries must not be used.
There are 20 minutes for the test, which starts now.

Say:

There are 25 minutes for the test, which starts now.
