THE LEARNERS
Learner’s aims of learning:
To use basic English to communicate in some typical
situations while traveling abroad.
- Learn structures and vocabulary in air travel,
checking into hotels, asking for information, etc.
- Practice communicative skills.
- Use knowledge of English and English speaking
cultures to apply in real situations.
- Learn English within a short period ( 5 weeks)

Age: 30 -50 years old
Level of English: False beginner – A1 in
Common European Framework
Background:
University graduates
Office workers; some have retired
Good social background knowledge
Little experience in travelling abroad
Level of motivation: high
Want to use their time spent for learning English
effectively
Need English to travel overseas on holidays, to visit
their children and relatives who study or live abroad.
Believe that knowlege of English and English cultures
will makes their holidays more enjoyable.

Class size : small (12 – 15 learners)
Facilities: well-equipped to create a modern language
learning environment (computers, Internet,
projectors, CD players, etc.)
Teachers:
qualified, enthusiastic
experienced in English language teaching
experienced in travelling abroads.
Administrator’s attitude: Put quality as the first
priority
Course Description
Aims at middle-aged adults who will be using simple
English while going holidays abroad
Employs communicative language teaching
approach and learner-centered approach
Emphasize on speaking and listening activities.
Reading and speaking skills are integrated in the
syllabus
Provides most important vocabulary, structures and
functions for tourists.
Duration of the course: 30 class hours in 5 weeks

Aim:to prepare learners to communicate in
English at a basic level for the purpose of
going on holiday abroad.

Objectives: At the end of the course, students will able to achieve:
1. Knowledge
• Grammar: Ss are supposed to grasp firm knowledge and be able to use
the following grammatical points in familiar situations:
Possessive pronouns
Questions
Present tenses (present simple/ present continuous)
have/ have got
Quantity words (much/ many, some/ any, something, anyone, nobody,
everywhere, a few/ a little, a lot of)
Articles
Verb patterns ( would like to do, want/ like to do, like doing, etc.)
• Vocabulary: Ss are supposed to acquire a sufficient-for-everyday-use
amount of vocabulary in the following topics:
Clothes: types of clothes
Weather
Airport
Buying and selling
Numbers
Aims and objectives
2. Skills: After this course, Ss are expected to acquire the following
skills:
• Reading:
Learners can read and understand simple written notices, signs, and
menus
• Writing:
Learners can fill in the form at the airport or at a hotel.
• Listening:
Learners are able to listen and understand short conversations less
than 100 words
Learners can understand simple questions, statements, greetings,
and directions
• Speaking:
Learners can ask and answer questions about the familar topics
