I/ Form: A /AN ( moọt), THE
II/ Usage:
1. A / AN : for a singular countable noun in a common meaningful statement or the noun which
hasnt been not mentioned before.
Ex: A baseball is round. ( any baseballs)
I saw a boy in the street. ( the readers/ listeners havent known who the boy is)
2. A : for the words beginning with a vowel. Ex: a book, a pen,
AN : for the words beginning with a consonant. Ex: an apple, an ink-pot
Some letters like o, e, y, u pronounced as a consonant , we use the article A for them.
Ex: a european, a uniform, a young man, a one-dollar book.
The letter h pronounced as a vowel we use the article AN for it.
Ex: a house , but an hour

Nouns with THE Nouns without THE
The nouns having a prepositional phrase/ a relative
clause following. Ex:
The boy in the corner is my friend.
The man who is standing over there is Mr.Pike.
Something which is common. Ex :
-Sugar is sweet.
-I like oranges. But The sugar on the table is from Cuba.
But: We went to the school where my sister was
studying.
The words like breakfast,lunch, school, church, home,
college, work -> not using the. Ex:
-We ate breakfast at eight oclock this morning
-We went to school yesterday.
-Before oceans, rivers, seas, gulfs,plural lakes. Ex :

-Countries with more than one word:. Ex :
