REPORTED SPEECH
- Để tường thuật lại các lời yêu cầu, đề nghị, cảnh báo , xin lỗi, khuyên bảo ... chúng ta có thể áp dụng các cấu trúc
s.dụng To Inf. hoặc Gerund . Cụ thể:
* verb + O + to inf ( advise/ tell/ ask/ order/ want/ warn/ encourage/ beg/ remind ...)
Ex: She told me, “ If I were you, I wouldn’t believe him”  She advised me not to believe him
* verb + to infinitive ( agree, offer, promise, threaten, demand, decide ...)
Ex: She said, “ I am not going to walk”  She refused to walk.
* verb + gerund ( suggest/ admit/ deny/ mind/ avoid ...)
Ex: “ Why don’t we share the cost?”, she said  She suggested sharing the cost.
* verb + preposition + gerund ( complain about, dream of, apologize for, confess to, insist on, object to ...)
Ex: Tom said, “ I am sorry I messed up the arrangement”  Tom apologized for messing up the arrangement
* verb + object + preposition + gerund ( blame ... for/ thank ... for/ congratulate ....on..)
Ex: “ It was your fault. You didn’t tell us”, she told me  She blamed me for not telling them.
