ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
During about two months practicing at Viet – Laos Commercial and
Investment Promotion Joint Stock Company, I have been fortunate to
receive invaluable contributions from many people.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my
supervisor, Mrs Le Thi Thuy Ha for her absolutely indispensable
assistance, excellent suggestions, expert advice and detailed critical
comments; without which work would not have been complete.
Secondly, I owe a special debt of gratitude to all my lecturers at the
Foreign Language Department at Vinh University, for their endless
enthusiasm and undeniably useful lectures.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to staffs and director of
Viet – Laos Commercial and Investment Promotion Joint Stock Company
for their various kinds of help and encouragement.
My warmest thanks are due to my loving family, my friends for their
unconditional love, support, encouragement and forbearance.
Finally, I am all too aware that despite all the advice and assistance, I
feel that the report is far from perfect; it is, my sole responsibility for any
inadequacies and shortcomings that the report may be considered to have.

ABSTRACT

Foreign language is one of important factor that contributes to expand
cooperative relation, international exchange among people, countries and
regions in all over the world. It is the door opening a huge world in which
human’s knowledge has opportunity to develop a new heights, language
thinking is constantly improved and enhanced. When the whole world is now
connecting to the trend of economic integration and development, foreign


language proves more its role. Therefore, learning it has become prime criteria
in evaluating and completing our communicative and integrative capacity. At
present, English has become official language of over 53 countries and regions,
the third one used the most after Chinese, Spanish. More important, it is global
language. Among hundreds of languages, the world select English a tool so
that people can understand each other, because it is beautiful one which goes
with many special culture features from countries using it. So, as for me,
learning English is very necessary and useful.
As a student of foreign language department of Vinh University, I am very
lucky to be received teachers’ thoughtful instruction and conscientious help in
the practice process. This helps me have chance to learn and make effort with
the aim of improving professional qualification in particular and overall
knowledge for the life in general. In the past time, the school and department
introduced and facilitated for me to practice at Viet – Laos commercial and
investment promotion joint stock Company. It is honor to me when I am going
to graduate. I had opportunity to use, consolidate the knowledge in here as well
spread and improve my English level, especially vocabulary and understanding
about economics. Moreover, I can collide with working environment outside
the school- a professional and effective one. Experience and comprehension
accumulated in practice process here is magnetic needle that will led me up to
practical environment after that.

4. CHART OF THE COMPANY’S ORGANIZATION

- The Director of the company is the top leader of the company; he is in
charge of managing the whole activities with the assistance from the two
vice directors.

- Two Vice Directors includes 1 Vice Director of Finance and 1 Vice
Director of Construction Engineering. They are responsible for everyday

-

activities with the help from the heads of related departments.
Three heads of three departments includes 1 head of Human Resources
Department, 1 head of Economic Planning Department, 1 head of Finance

Department. They are directly responsible for their own professional works
with the assistance of the vice head of the department and all the staff

-

within the department.
There are 6 construction team working at the construction sites directly (6
main construction teams and some seasonal construction teams). Each
construction team consists of:
+ 1 foreman
+ 3 vice foremen (1 vice foreman of engineering, 1 vice foreman of

finance, 1 vice foreman of human resources)
+ 2 accountants
+ 5 construction engineers; they are directly responsible for construction
engineering at construction sites.
+ 30 construction skilled workers.
All the activities are managed, supervised, operated and speeded up by
Party Executive Committee, Labor Union, and Board of Directors. Details as
follows:

CHART OF ORGANIZATION AT CONSTRUCTION SITE
Our company operates works at construction sites as the above chart.

Company is the top leader, responsible for all the works at construction
site: procedure in capital works, finance, human resources.

Board of site directors manages the construction of works on behalf of the
company. The leader of board of site directors is directly appointed by the
Director of the company. The leader of board of site directors operates and
organizes building process as in the contract signed with construction investor.

Some sections responsible to Board of site directors are:
+ Engineering staff: consults site director in planning construction schedule
and summit technical solutions; guiding construction and erection teams to
carry out the items as design and technical procedures; cooperate with
supervisors and investors in controlling the quality of materials and partly
finished goods used for the construction; measuring and specifying the
workload to form the foundation of work acceptance and to adjust the process
of the construction.
+ Financial staff: consults site director in planning financial revenue and
expenditure, updating accounting records, chasing financial system of the
teams and paying to the teams monthly basing on the work they have done;
demonstrating payment procedures to investor when the constructional works
are approved; performing procedures on tax, asset depreciation system, and
salaries for the teams and office administrators; making periodical and annual
final accounts.
+ Administrative staff: gives site directors advise of administration

management; directly managing human resources, accommodation, living and
working conditions for the staff; dealing with any problems related to medical
insurance and social insurance; improving the staff’s spiritual life; mobilizing
work force as the requirement of the construction process.

+ Security, warehouse, and other staff: are responsible for releasing, storing,
and protecting all kinds of materials and equipments required by site directors
and civil engineers; Being on duty 24 hours per day to protect construction site.
+ Construction and erection teams: performs tasks given by site directors
and are assigned to be responsible for techniques, quality and building progress
before site directors; are under the administration of the company; is
responsible for workforce and equipment management; carries out the plan as
agreed with Board of Project Management. The top manager of the team is
team leader. Team leaders is responsible for arranging work flow layout,
equipments, supervising and speeding up construction process with good
quality as specified schedule.
Relations between the company and site management
- The company directly manages and mobilizes human resources, machines,
equipment, materials and other financial demands to construction activities on
the building site in order to ensure the quality and punctuality for the works. It
also guides, supervises and speeds up works basing on plan and schedule of the
works.
- Board of site directors summit reports to the Director of the company weekly
and get feedbacks for the works. Leaders of the company at head office and
Leader of works at construction sites use telephone, fax, or email for
communication. Leaders of the company have a meeting with construction
investor to solve any problems related to the construction.

CHAPTER II: PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
1. What I have done.
- Research the company and the fields of it.
- Translate some documents.
- Research the market and customers with some staffs.
- Take part in some meetings in order to know how to organize a meeting or
organization.
- Join some activities (sports and do charity of the company).
2. New skills acquired and skills improved.
In the practice process, I learnt more experience and skills. I think that it
is only very important in the future, it also helps me more confident when
taking work.
a. Professional knowledge:
- Apply well knowledge learnt at university into reality.
- Expand vocabulary stock about practice profession.
- Make progress of selecting words during translating.
- Know more model standard of foreign administrative texts.
b. Practical skills:
- Practicing students’ analysis ability and independence in working.
- Apply studied knowledge logically and creatively in job as well in life.
- Enhance translation skill.
- Accumulate more experience of handling situations.
- Know how to behave and to be more confident in relations, especially in
communicating with customers.
3. Management technical observed:
During working time at the company, I observed and learnt methods and

management skills of personnel, finance, equipments, time…etc.
People in the company always work by heart, make use of time so as to
gain the most effective. Each person undertakes a major, so working progress
is often promoted. Everyone is aware of their duties and responsibilities.
Especially, there is not working pressure.
Financial reports are completed every month, every year. Therefore,
financial status is always controlled and adjusted on time.
The company’s equipments (including office machines, construction
equipments….) are monthly tested.

4. Class skills employed:
The skills that trained at university such as listening, speaking, translation
and group working, are applied creatively and flexibly, especially presentation
skill. It is the way of using words to persuade customers and report job briefly
but fully, exactly. It is so lucky when I talked to Mr Nguyen Canh Van,
director of the company. He gave me how to work, which I should do or not in
working progress.
5. Problems encountered:
Although I received help from school, supervisor, staffs of company, and
gained some planned goals, I still met many difficulties, for example,
accumulated knowledge and vocabulary limited, to be confuse in
communication and translation due to meeting new technical terms, many
translating version haven’t completed yet.
This is the first time I’ve contacted with working environment outside
school, I have still lacked major experience as well behavior in life. So, the
way of understanding and solving the problems hasn’t been thorough.
Moreover, it is to lack major skill. This affected to my ability of reacting
sudden situations. Sometimes, I made little mistakes. Nevertheless, I tried my

best to finish given work, and learnt many experience. I think that these
problems will help me face the challenges in the future.
And in order to get a good job or succeed after graduating, I am aware that:
I need to build up myself the habit of criticizing and self-criticizing.
Simultaneously, it is necessary to listen to others’ advice, instruction; ask
supervisor, teachers, friends…to find out and develop soon own defect and
mistakes; develop actively my ability; often update the information; improve
understanding capacity in many fields. In addition, it is important to observe,
sum up experience from mistakes in the job; to be confident to communicate
with customers, foreigners so as to enhance communication skill; read
documents related to major with the aim of developing the technical terms;
learn more and more knowledge to complete myself.

6. Lesson learnt:
After my own effort and the help of school, department, supervisor,
friends, especially Viet – Laos commercial and investment promotion joint
stock Company, I have finished practice period. Although it was not short but
long, I summed up myself valuable lesson.
Firstly, if we want to do something well, we should know exactly whether
we like it or not, which company we want to work for and the information
related to company (business fields, potential…..).
Secondly, after undertaking job, we should try own best, listen to others’
advice, ask someone if necessary. In my opinion, group working skill will help
us so much. The aim of group working is to understand the problems deeply,
figure out the solution the fastest as well make the relation between staffs in
the company better. As a result, the working effect will be boosted.
Thirdly, being active gives new idea. The world is changing day by day.

We should do that because sometimes, we feel bored with our job. Change and
refresh will make us always see something new and want to search. At that
time, this led us to creation.
The last thing I would like to say is that knowledge is huge. We have to learn
more and more. Every field or sector has different features. It is difficult to
give solution if we don’t know how to receive the problem, don’t understand it
clearly. I realize that learnt skills at school have not met the requirement of
society. So, for me, the most important thing is trying to expand the
knowledge.

CHAPTER III: CONCLUSION

Two months practicing is over. It isn’t such a long period of time but I learnt
many things. I realized that there always is a distance between the theory and
practice. They are different. Although I prepared carefully everything before,
in the job I tried my best, beside something well-done such as colliding with
real working environment, experiencing difficulties and challenges both in job
and life, professional working style….. I felt also confuse when meeting
sudden situation. Some problems happened. However, these helped me
understand that I have to make effort and learn more and more, improve my
knowledge, complete myself in order to be confident enough to compete with
others.
Once again, I am greatly indebted to all my teachers of Foreign Language
Department at Vinh University, my supervisor Le Thi Thuy Ha, as well Board
of Directors of Viet-Laos Commercial and Investment Promotion Joint Stock
Company, all staffs working here for their suggestions, supports, and useful
advice. I hope that in the future, the department will train many excellent

students contributing to the development of the country; the company will be
more successful and expand trade not only in the region but also international
arena.
After several time learning, accumulating intelligence, a useful practicing
period of time, and many memories, this will be unforgotten marks in the life
of anybody sitting in university’s lecture-room. The sentiment of the teachers,
friends and others is an invaluable gift given to students before graduating. All
will be packed and kept carefully to store beautiful memories about students’
time.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Throughout learnt things, I have some suggestions so that the teaching and
learning program can be improved with the aim of helping students have more

skills, avoiding the simple mistakes in the practicing time as well the job in the
future.
The first thing is that it is important to train according to the system of subdivided and diversified subjects clearly. This helps students have many
opportunities to option and meet the demand of reality. The school and
department need to give students favorable conditions practicing in the
companies that accommodate with learnt majors.
In addition, it is necessary to last practicing time so that students have
chance to contact and seize fully practical knowledge.
Furthermore, students need to trained and practiced with native foreign
teachers more. Apart from class hours, students need to have extracurricular
activities with foreign teacher to familiarize as well improve communication
skill in the life.
The next thing is that the facilities and support equipments need to be

equipped completely. Because I realized that students are still lacking practice
experience.
Last but not least, the branch of knowledge in training program should be
clearer so that students have enough special knowledge after graduating.
Especially, it is important to hold English clubs and examinations.
These suggestions above are my hope in particular and all of students who
are going to graduate in general. But I think that the most important thing is
your own effort. I hope that after leaving the school, everybody have enough
knowledge to meet the society’ need.
