I - input devices.
A hardware device that sends information into the CPU. Without any input
devices a computer would simply be a display device and not allow users to
interact with it, much like a TV. Below is a listing of different types of computer
input devices.
camera
A type of camera that stores the pictures or video it takes
in electronic format instead of to film. There are several
features that make digital cameras a popular choice when
compared to film cameras. First, the feature often
enjoyed the most is the LCD (Liquid-Crystal Display)
display on the digital camera. This display allows users
to view photos or video after the picture or video has
been taken, which means if you take a picture and don't
like the results, you can delete it; or if you like the
picture, you can easily show it to other people. Another
nice feature with digital cameras is the ability to take
dozens, sometimes hundreds of different pictures.
joystick
A peripheral input device that looks
similar to a control device connected to a
computer that the user holds and moves to
control actions on the screen especially in
video gams.
Microphone
A microphone is a hardware peripheral that allows
computer users to input audio into their computers
Keyboard
One of the main input devices

used on a computer, a
keyboard looks very similar to
the keyboards of electric
typewriters, with some
additional keys
Mouse
An input device that users moves on a flat surface
to posision a point on the screen. It allows a user
to select a choice or function to be ferformed on
the screen
The mouse. The computer mouse is used to move the
cursor around on the monitor and for many other
functions. This mouse has three buttons and a wheel to
make actions faster
Scanner
A peripheral device that digitizes artwork of
photographs and stores the image as a file you
can merge with text in many word processing and
page layout programs
trackball
An input device, designed to replace the mouse
that moves the mouse pointer on screen as you
rotare a ball embedded in the keyboard. Unlike a
mouse , it does not require a flat, clean surface to
operate, it is often uses with portable computers.
Webcam
A camera connected to a computer or
server that allows anyone connected
to the Internet to view still pictures or
motion video of a user.

Light pen
A device like the pen that is sensitive to light and is used
to tough a certain place on a screen to transfer
information to the computer.
II - Output device:
Any peripheral that receives and/or displays output from a computer. Below are
some examples of different types of output devices commonly found on a
computer.
monitor
The monitor. It is like a television, but it doesn't
usually show TV signals
Also called a video display terminal (VDT) a
monitor is a video display screen and the hard shell
that holds it. In its most common usage, monitor
refers only to devices that contain no electronic
equipment other than what is essentially needed to
display and adjust the characteristics of an image.
Printers
Acomputer peripherals designed to print computer
generated text of graphics on pape
Printers are one of the most used peripherals on
computers and are commonly used to print text,
images, and/or photos.
speakers
A hardware device connected to a computer's
sound card that outputs sounds generated by
the card.
