Unit 13 SEAGame
Speaking
Objective: - By the end of the lesson, students are able to express
attitudes towards something.
- By the end of the lesson, students feel more confident
talking about something.
Skills: - Speaking: expressing attitudes towards something;
sharing ideas.
Teaching aids: - handouts.
Stage Procedure Aims
I. Warm- up
II. Pre-
speaking
Game: How do they feel?
- Arrange SS to work in two or four
groups.
- Present the faces, one at a time, and
ask SS to say how one point.
- The first group to call out the correct
expression wins one point.
- The group with the most point wins the
game.
- Keep a running total of points for each
group on the board.
- Declare the winner.
Transition: Facial expressions can tell us
how we feel, what our attitudes are. But
we often use language together with body
language. To day we will practice
expressing attitudes in English.
- Write on the board:

Game
Introducing useful language
- Tell SS to read the expression given in
the box and add more.
- Note down SS ideas on the board and
add more if any.
- Have SS listen to you and repeat if
necessary.
- Remind SS of the intonation.

Activity 1 : Comparing results ( Task a,

- Have SS read the medal tables of the
SEA Game.
- Ask SS to work with a partner and
compare the results of countries in the
two SEA Game.
- Tell SS to compare answers in small
groups.

check with the class.

Activity 2: Reporting results and
expressing attitudes (Task b, p. 169)
- Put SS into small groups.
- Call on SS to read the examples.
- Have SS work in groups and report the
results of the countries in the two SEA
Game with an expression of their attitude.

- Invite class opinions and give feedback
