USAGE
 Facts which always true : The present simple is used to
describe permanent facts, for example in science and
geographical descriptions
( Sự thật hiển nhiên)
Ex: The light from the Sun takes 8 minutes and 20
seconds to reach the Earth
 Habitual actions : The present simple is used to describe
habits and routines. A frequency adverbs is often used (
Thói quen )
Ex: I usually take the bus to work
 Summary of events : The present simple can be used to
make a summary of the events in a narrative. It can also
used for a table of historical events (tóm tắt sự kiện )
Ex: In Chapeter 1, Susan meets David, and agrees to go


to the school dance with him

USAGE

 To talk about actions happening at the moment

of speaking: Hành động diễn ra tại thời điểm nói
Ex: I’m waiting for my friends

 To talk about things that happen more often
than expected, often to show envy or to
criticise with words like always, constantly,
continually,... (mang tính chỉ trích, đố kị, than
phiền,...)
Ex: He is always going to school late

 To talk about temporary situations : Hành động
mang tín tạm thời
Ex: I am studying really hard for mt exams
NOTES: Những động từ tri giác, nhận thức không
được dử dụng ở dạng tiếp diễn : hear, understand,
taste, think, see,....

USAGE
(Nhấn mạnh kết quả của hành động)
 To talk about action happened but jusst passed;
hành động đã xảy ra nhưng vừa mới qua, trong câu
thường có “just”, “yet”, “already”
Ex: She has just gone out
 To show that something happened at some point in
the past before now. We don’t state when it
happened : hành động xảy ra ở một thời điểm trong quá
khứ không có thời gian cụ thể
Ex: I have worked really hard for the last two weeks


 To talk about something that happened at an
unstated time in the past but is connected to the
present : hành động xảy ra ở quá khứ nhưng kết thúc ở
hiện tại

Ex: The lift has broken down
 To talk about something that happened in the past
and continue at the present, usually with for/since
Ex: I have been a teacher since 1980

IV. Hiện tại hoàn thành tiếp diễn ( Present Perfect
Continuous)

USAGE
(Nhấn mạnh tính liên tục của hành động)
 Diễn tả hành động đã bắt đầu ở quá khứ nhưng vẫn
còn đang xảy ra ở hiện tại và còn tiếp tục đến tương
lai
Ex: The phone has been ringing for two minutes



 Diễn tả hành động có tính tạm thời hay sắp thay đổi
Ex: I have been living in England, but I plan to move soon
 Diễn tả hành động đã chấm dứt “vừa qua” , nó
không xảy ra ngay lúc ta nói nhưng kết quả của nó
ta vẫn còn thấy ở hiện tại
Ex: It has been raining (The streeta are still wet)
