@ Checking up : “Read the information, ask and answer the questions about it” ( after
running through)

B/Objective : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the names of
things in English .

- Structures: What is this / that ? - It’s …..
- Vocab.: Words related to school things.
D/ Teaching aids : pictures in the Textbook, word cards, realia.
E/ Procedure :
@ Warm up : Guessing game “Guess the words. Use the question: Is this [a teacher] ?”
SCHOOL STUDENT TEACHER CLASSROOM CLASS
- T prepare 5 cards and gives each of them and asks : Is this a…?/ Yes./ No.(T models).
- Ss work in two teams to guess the words in the cards.
1/ Presentation: (C2)
- Pre -teach vocab.: T elicits the new words from Ss .(using pictures in C2 and realia)
+ a door + a window + a board + a clock + a waste basket
+ a school bag + a pencil + a pen + a ruler + an eraser
- Setting the scene: "Ba wants to know the names of some school things and Nam answers.
- Target item: Rub out and Remember Dialogue: (C3) Ss listen to the teacher , then repeat.
Ba : What is this ?
Nam : It is a door.
Ba : What is that ?
Nam : It is an eraser.
+ Model sentences: - What is this / that ?
- It is [a door].
[an eraser].
* T elicits the model sentences from Ss. T has some pairs of Ss repeat the sentences.
Notice: T explains the use of articles “a” and “an”, Ss listen.
. “a” or “an” means “one’
. “a” precedes the word beginning with a consonant, and “an” - a vowel

Example: a door / ruler ….. - an eraser
2/ Practice:

+ T demos the first two cues + Ss drill

3/ Production: - Free-oral: Ss give out or show one thing and ask , answer about its
name in English. Example : - What is this / that ?
- It’s a book.
* Ss practice in pairs , T monitors.
* A4: Remember: T reminds Ss to learn and remember A4
@ Homework : - Learn by heart C2 and the model sentences .
- Prepare A1,2 of unit three.
UNIT THREE AT HOME

D/ Teaching aids : pictures in the Textbook, word cards

E/ Procedure :
@ Checking up :T calls two pairs of the Ss to ask and answer about the names of things,
then write them out if necessary. ( T prepare several things and the things which are in the
classroom. ) * The answers: What is this/ that ? - It’s a/ an ….
1/ Presentation:
- Pre -teach vocab.: (using pictures in A1) What is this ? - It's .....
+ a living room + a telephone + a lamp + a bookshelf + a couch
+ an armchair + a table + a chair + a television + a stereo
+ a stool - (two / three) stools
- Setting the scene: "Ba wants to know the names of some things in the house and Nam
answers."
- Target item: Dialogue Build:T elicites from Ss,then T reads , Ss listen – repeat.
Ba : ...... are ...... ? Ba : What ...... these ?
Nam : They're ...... ? Nam : ...... armchairs.

3/ Further Practice: Word Cues: "Write questions and answers to the words given."

Examples: chair - What is this / that ? - It's a chair.
doors - What are these / those ? - They're doors.
1/ telephone 2/ armchair 3/ windows 4/ erasers
Ss do the task.
T collects some Ss' writings and corrects.
@ Homework : Learn by heart… Do Exercise A1 in the Workbook.Prepare A3-4.
