By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get more practice and know how to use Present
Simple and Present Progressive tense.

A. Theory
I/ Present Simple (Hiện tại đơn)
1. Form
a. Khẳng định
- I, you, we , they + V
- He, she , it
+ V+s / V+es
* Notes :
- Các động từ kết thúc là sh, ch, ss, o, x thì sang ngôi he, she , it thêm es
Eg : I wash He washes
I watch He watches
I go
He goes
I miss He misses
- Sau các phụ âm k, p, t
s đợc đọc là /s/
- Sau các trờng hợp còn lại s đợc đọc là /z/
- Sau các phụ âm sh, ch, ss, x đuôi es đợc đọc là iz
- Những động từ tận cùng là phụ âm + y thì sang ngôi he, she, it y đổi
thành i trớc khi thêm es.
Eg : I study He studies


- Những động từ tận cùng là nguyên âm + y, biến đổi bình thờng khi sang
ngôi he, she, it.
Eg: I play, he plays ....

2. The use.
a. Diễn tả mức độ thờng xuyên diễn ra của hành động ở hiện tại. Thờng đi
với always, usually, often , sometimes, occasionally (thỉnh thoảng), rarely,
seldom (hiếm khi), never, everyday, every week....

- Những động từ 1 âm tiết, 1 nguyên âm, kết thúc là một phụ âm, trớc khi
thêm ing ta gấp đôi phụ âm cuối.
Eg : - sit sitting
- swim swimming
- Các động từ: die, lie, tie ... biến đổi nh sau:
die dying, lie lying, tie tying

a. Diễn tả hành động đang diễn ra ở hiện tại, thờng đi với at the moment,
at present, now ( bây giờ , vào lúc này )
Eg : - I'm cooking at the moment.
b. Diễn tả hành động tơng lai đã đợc sắp xếp sẵn
He is meeting his brother at the station tonight.
(Anh ta sẽ đón anh trai ở nhà ga vào tối nay.)
c. Thời hiện tại TD đi với always khi ta muốn phàn nàn về một hành động
lặp đi lặp lại.
Eg : He's always losing his keys. (Anh ta cứ luôn đánh mất chìa khóa)
* Notes : Cỏc ng t trng thỏi (stative verb) bng sau khụng c chia th tip din (bt
c thi no) khi chỳng l nhng ng t tnh din t trng thỏi cm giỏc ca hot ng tinh thn

b. Nhận xét :
* Ngôi thứ nhất số ít (I) và ngôi thứ ba số ít ( He/She/It ) to BE có chung
một dạng là WAS . Các ngôi cồn lại ( You/ We/ You) có chung một dạng là
WERE
wasn't và weren't là dạng rút gọn lần lợt của WAS NOT và WERE NOT

* ở thể khẳng định ta thêm -ED vào cho dạng cơ bản của động từ.
ở thể phủ định và nghi vấn , ta phải nhờ đến dạng quá khứ đơn bất
quy tắc động từ TO DO
didn't là dạng rút gọn DID NOT
Riêng với những động từ bất quy tắc (irregular verbs), ta phỉa học thuộc
lòng dạng bất quy tắc của từng động từ đợc kê trong cột thứ hai của
bảng động từ bất quy tắc .
* Chỉ ở thể khẳng định ta mới dùng đến dạng bất quy tắc của động
từ .
--ở thể phủ định và nghi vấn , ta vẫn phải nhờ đến dạng quá khứ đơn
bất quy tắc động từ TO DO
* Qui tắc chính tả :
Khi thêm -ED vào cho dạng cơ bản của động từ , ta có các qui tắc sau:
-- khi động từ chấm dứt bằng một phụ âm và trớc phụ âm này là một
nguyên âm thì ta phải gấp đôi phụ âm cuối
Eg: stop ----> stopped
-- khi động từ chấm dứt bằng -y và trớc nó là một phụ âm thì ta phải
đổi -y thành -i trớc khi thêm -ED

Ex: wanted, ended, needed, visited…
. /t/: sau các động từ tận cùng bằng: f, k, p, ss, ce, ch, sh, gh,
ph
Ex: stopped, passed, watched, looked…
. /d/: sau các đọâng từ tận cùng bằng các nguyên âm a, e, o,
u, i và các phụ âm còn lại (b, g, l, m, n, v, z, th,…)
Ex: used, tired, joined, failed…

3. Modal verbs : (động từ khiếm khuyết) can, must, should, ought to
1. can : có thể _ can’t : khơng thể
 Sử dụng ‘can’ hoặc ‘can’t’ để diễn tả khả năng.

Ex: She can speak English. ( cơ ấy có thể nói tiếng Anh)
 Sử dụng ‘can’ hoặc ‘can’t’ để diễn tả sự xin phép hay cho phép.
Ex: Can I watch TV now, Mum?
No, you can’t. You must finish your dinner first.
2. should = ought to : nên . Dùng để diễn tả lời khun.
Ex: 1.You should study hard. ( Em nên học hành chăm chỉ)
2. Children shouldn’t eat too much candy. It’s not good for their health. ( Trẻ con khơng
nên ăn q nhiều kẹo. Nó khơng tốt cho sức khoẻ của chúng).

1. Adjectives: tính từ

 Vị trí: tính từ thường đứng sau động từ to be hoặc đứng trước danh từ và bổ nghĩa cho danh từ
đó.
Ex: 1. She is beautiful.

2. She is a beautiful girl.

Các trạng từ chỉ thể cách được cấu tạo bằng cách thêm đuôi – ly và sau tính từ

4. Adverbs of Frequency.
Các trạng từ chỉ tần xuất dùng để mô tả mức độ dày hay thưa của hành động . Các trạng từ
này trả lời cho câu hỏi “ HOW OFTEN “ làm thường xuyên tới mức nào. Có thể sắp xếp
theo thứ tự như sau: ALWAYS , USUALLY , OFTEN, SOMETIMES, NEVER.
Ngoài các trạng từ trên ta còn có các cụm trạng ngữ chỉ tần xuất:
- every day / week/ month ( mỗi ngày….. )
- once , twice, three times…… a week / a month……( m ỗi tuần 1, 2, 3 ….. lần )

Các trạng từ tần suất đứng sau động từ thường và trước động từ TO BE

III. comparatives and superlatives.
