Changes in post COVID 19 supply chain management in retailers
COVID 19 is affecting to all the aspect of the economy all over the world and in
developing country such as Vietnam also has affect with medical and economy Xuan
Huong (2020). Retailers play an important role in every economy nationwide. According
to Oxford Economics (2020), it is estimated that there will be 74% of enterpries will be
bankrupted if Covid 19 lasts to 6 months in that the retailers such as KFC, The Coffee
House, The Gioi Di Dong and lots of other retailers have suggested to the government
could help them in three issues including recognized codid 19 as force majeure in order
to apply the term in many kinds of contracts including hiring office or space contract,
labor contract, importing material contract, ect to reduce to loss from COVID 19.
Moreover, they ask the government for support 1.8 million VND to labor that help the
labor could have enough money to spend their basic life because of COVID 19.
Furthermore, it is asked for reduce 50% cost of electric, water and some other costs to
support them could overcome COVID 19 and otherwise they could be bankrupted. These
suggestion is considering by the government and if 70% enterprise will be bankrupt, it
could affect to the bad effect to the economy and society because retailers provide many
slot in job to people, it could serve many customers with the neccesary things, and it
could submit the tax to the government budget in order to help to develop the country.
Post COVID 19, there are many changes in supply chain management of retailers with
lack of products, decreasing the buying demand of end customers and difficult to
transportation.
First of all, during time of facing to COVID 19, the production will be postponed and
reduced the productivity. Therefore, it lack the products to arrange to supply to the
market. For example, many producs import from China, and 4 months before, China has
faced the COVID 19 infection in Vu Han and some big cities, so all activities of
production will be stopped during at least 4 months so that the end production could not
transported to The Gioi Di Dong or some other retailers. Secondly, because of COVID
19, many people will be losed their job, and their own business also will be affected.
Thus, they will be more saving and reduce some costs and focusing on the main cost of
life. Therefore, they focus on medical, food, and other products will not be the priority
and that makes the buying demand of end customers decreasing and affecting to the

supply chain management of retailers post COVID 19. Furthermore, Because of
decreasing of production and buying demand, it is difficult to arrange the shipping
vehicles to transport and logistics the products from this country to another country or in
internal countries. If there have the shipping, it will be high cost of transportation, and
this could make the price of goods increasing. For example, when Italy closed their
coutries and European, US, UK also closed their countries in April, 2020. There are many
brand such as Honeywell, Siemens could not provide the products to customers around
the world because of closing the company and stopping production. Post covid 19, they
need to recover their economy and the products will be lacked. Then, the shipment of

products from that countries to other countries all over the world could be difficult
because the small shipment could be difficult arrangement.
In short, Until now there have no vaccine and medicine could rescue if people are
infected COVID 19 and with the strong speed of infection, there are many bad results
caused by COVID 19, esspeacilly to the economy, retailers and the supply chain
management of supply chain management . It is hoped that the medicine or vaccine could
be found soon to help the economy could rise up and return as the previous stage.
