Unit 13: HOBBIES
A. Reading
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1.Knowledge:
- Know more about vocabulary related to hobbies.
- Use the acquired language and knowledge to talk about their hobbies.
2. Skill:
- Reading skill: read for specific information, guessing meaning from context.
- Listening skill: listen for gist and details.
- Speaking skill: talk about hobbies.
3. Attitude: After the lesson, students may:
- Use the vocabulary from the reading passage and reading skills to read more articles
and use these words in different situations correctly.
II. Language content
1. Lexical items: accomplished, accompany, modest, avid, discard, indulge in , keep sb
occupied.
2. Grammar: Revise present tense.
III. Teacher’s and students’ preparation:
1. Teacher’s preparation:
- Lesson plans.
- Handouts, computer, speakers, a projector, videos.
2. Students’ preparation:
- Vocabulary.
