A. READING (40 minutes)
1. Before you read:
- Work in pairs: Ask and answer questions about your
daily routines in 5 minutes.
2. While you read
- Work in pairs or in individual, read in whispery in 5
minutes and answer the task.
a) Task 1:
- First student and second student read the passage
and translate into Vietnamese
- St3 & st4 give the keys.
- Students can find out themselves new words in the
lesson.
Note: Students can write some new words.

b) Task 2:
- Ask students to work in pairs by ask and answer about

break.

up, goes down to the kitchen, boils water for tea, drinks
tea, has a quick breakfast, leads the buffalo to the field.
5:15 leave the house. 5:30 arrives in the field, ploughs
and harrows his plot of land. 7:45 takes a rest. 10:30
goes home. 11:30 has lunch with family.
In the afternoon, 2:30 p.m Mr. Vy and Mrs. Tuyet
go to the field again, repair the banks of their plot of
land, he pumps water into it, she does the transplanting.
6:00 p.m finish work. 7:00p.m have dinner.
After dinner, watch TV, go to bed. Sometimes visit
neighbors, chat with them.

students if necessary.

 Hello everyone, my name is Lam. I’m a cyclo driver
in Ho Chi Minh City. I usually have a busy working day.

Thai Binh Market. My next passenger is a lady who
does shopping there every two days. I help her put all
her purchases into the cyclo and then take her to her
shop in Tran Hung Dao Street. At about ten thirty I ride
off toward Nguyen Thi Minh Khai school. There I park
my cyclo, chat with some of my fellows and wait for my
third passengers. They are two pupils, girl and a boy. I
take them home. At twelve I have lunch at a food stall
near Ben Thanh Market. After lunch, I park my cyclo
under a tree, take a short rest and then continue my
afternoon’s work.

Alfred Nobel was born on October 21, 1833 in Sweden. His important invention was dynamite – a powerful
explosive. This dynamite business made him a very rich man.
One day, Alfred Nobel read about his death in a newspaper. In fact, it was his brother’s death. The reporter
