Many people still believe that natural resources will never be used up. dually, the world’s energy
resources are limited. Nobody knows exactly how ich fuel is left. However, we also should use them
economically and try to find t alternative resources of power. According to professor Marvin Burnham of the
New England Institute of Technology, we have to start conserving coal, oil and gas before it is too late, and
nuclear power is the only alternative energy .
However, many people do not approve of using nuclear power because it is very dangerous. What
would happen if there were a serious nuclear accident. Radioactivity causes cancer and may badly effect the

Like many of the tramps that live under the bridge in New York, Thomas was not always so poor. A
long time ago he was in the Navy, and like many who have been to sea for a long time, he has stayed slim
and fit. Despite the strict organization on board ship, he loved the life, and had the opportunity to see many
countries. He visited Poland and Russia; ill South Africa he realized what he valued in each country was the
people he met. He was always astonished and delighted by the ways in which the people he met differed from
one country to another. Some day, he hopes, everyone will see the world as he does.
After many happy years in Navy, he had to retire. The good things in life always come to an end. His
mother and father had long since died and he’d lost touch with his other relatives. He came to New York and
became an industrial designer. He was happy, although it wasn’t the same as the sea. He never wanted to get
married and have children.
And then there was the period of darkness. He smiles sadly. He shrugs his shoulders and looks at his
hands. There are tears in the comers of his eyes. This is something that he cannot bring himself to talk about.
“It all went wrong”, he whispers .
He was silent for a minute; then recovered. He began to : talk more loudly. “Look at me now- it

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31st. The night of 31st October was believed in the past
that dead people appeared from their graves, and which is now celebrated in the US, Canada and Britain. It is
a time when children have parties, and ghosts. Many children dress up as movie characters or a favorite
superhero.
They make lanterns out of pumpkins (large and round vegetables) from which the inside has been
removed, and play “trick or treat”, a traditional activity at Halloween, in which children dress in costumes
and visit houses. At each house they say “trick or treat”.This means that they will play a “trick”, or joke, on
the people in the house unless they are given a “treat”,e.g. sweets or money. Most people prefer to give treats

rather than having tricks played on them. The practice of “trick or treat” began in the US in the 1930s but is

The culture of Vietnam is one of the oldest in the Southeast Asia region. Although Vietnam lies
geographically in Southeast Asia, long periods of Chinese domination and influence has resulted in the
emergence of many East Asian characteristics in Vietnamese culture, and generally Vietnam is said to be a
part of the East Asian cultural sphere, known widely as Chinese cultural sphere.
Despite considerable foreign influence, Vietnamese people have managed to retain many distinct
customs. While Chinese culture has the largest influence on traditional Vietnamese culture, there is also a
much smaller influence from the Cham and later Western cultures, most notably of France, Russia and the
United States.
In term of prehistory, most Vietnamese historians consider the ancient Dong Son Culture to be one of
the defining aspects of early Vietnamese civilization.
Vietnam’s population in 2006 was 84,402,966, with a population density of 253 people per km2. Most
people live in or near the densely populous Red River or Mekong deltas.
