VII. Procedures

<b>* Warm up(5’): “Fiil in the missing word”</b>


- T prepares the poster like this at home.

- Have Ss go to the board to complete this activity.
- When Ss finish, have Ss check their answers.
- T gives feedback.


<b>* Presentation and Practice(15’):</b>
<i><b>1. Listen. Read along (Track 11): </b></i>


- T asks Ss: “Can you see the /b/ - ball?”. Have Ss point to
it. T encourages Ss point to the picture of the ball.


- T does like that with the bed and bee.


- T plays the CD. Have Ss listen and point to the story.
Have Ss listen again. Have Ss listen and point to the
pictures of the key words when they hear them in the
story.


- Read the story. Ss follow the story in their books.


- Have Ss work in pairs. One reads while the other one

- Time permitting. Have some Ss read them aloud.

- T gives instruction: Line up Ss into 2 groups.


Have Ss read them aloud. A group reads this story louder
and clearer. That group is winner.


<i><b>2. Song - P.72(10’). (Track 12):</b></i>


- Put up the ball, bed and bee phonics cards on the board.
T points to the ball and says “B for Ball”. Have Ss repeat.
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the
song. Play the CD


- Ask Ss to take out their own ball, bed and bee picture
cards and place them on their desks.


- Play the CD again. Ss listen and hold up the
corresponding picture cards.



<b>* Production(10’):</b>
<i><b>- Activity: Hot cards</b></i>
Have Ss sit in a circle.


Give the phonics cards for three Ss.


Play the song. While the song is playing. Ss pass the
phonics cards around. When the song stops. The Ss who
are holding the phonics cards must name them.


Other Ss and T check.


-Ss do exercise 3 in the Activities Book

VI. Procedures



<b>Teacher’s and Ss’ activities</b> <b>Content </b>


<b>* Warm up(10’): “Who is quickest person ?” and singing.</b>
- Ask Ss to open their notebooks. T explains the game: Ss will
have two minutes to write as many Bb as they can. The
winner is the person who has written the most.


- Have Ss listen to the previous song (Track 6). Have Ss listen
and sing along.


<b>* Presentation and Practice(10’):</b>


<i><b>1. Circle the things that begin with the “b” sound. </b></i>
- T asks Ss “How many things are there?”


- T elicits all of the pictures.


- Have Ss circle the things that begin with the “b” sound.
<i><b>=> Activity:Trace and say:</b></i>


- T writes the letter B on the board to demonstrate its
formation. Point to it and elicit its sound.


- Then, T shows the formation in the air. (Taking care when
facing the Ss that the letter is formed the correct way for
them.


- Repeat with b. Ss trace the letters.


- Go around the classroom, providing any necessary help.


- Ask Ss to say the sound of the letters.


<i><b>2. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words</b></i>
<i><b>that start with the “b” sound. Say the “b” words(10’).</b></i>
<i><b>(Track 13)</b></i>


T shows the bear phonics card. Point to it and say: “/b/
-bear. Have Ss repeat.


- Mime growling like a bear and say: “/b/ - bear. Encourage
Ss to do the same. T says the letter, Ss perform the action and
say the letter and the word if they can. Play the CD, Ss listen,
point to and repeat the word.


- Point to the pictures and have Ss named them.


- Allow Ss some minutes to colour the pictures of the words
that start with the “b” sound. T goes around the classroom
providing any necessary help.


<i>=> Activity: Craftwork:</i>


- Provide Ss with some card stock paper. Alternatively, ask
them to bring some from the previous lesson.


Ex: ball, bee...

letter B on the paper. Have Ss decorate the letter so that it
represents the word they have chosen.


- When they finish, they present their letters to the class.
Display their work in the classroom.
