VII. Procedures

<b>* Warm up (5’): “Fiil in the missing word”</b>
- T prepares the poster like this at home.

- Have Ss go to the board to complete this activity.
- When Ss finish, have Ss check their answers.
- T gives feedback.
<b>* Presentation and Practice:</b>
<i><b>1. Listen. Read along(10’): </b></i>
- T encourages Ss point to the picture and say out the words
- T plays the CD. Have Ss listen and point to the story.
- Read the story. Ss follow the story in their books.
- Have Ss work in pairs. One reads while the other one checks
and then they swap roles
- T points and says the sight words. Have Ss listen and repeat.
- Time permitting. Have some Ss read them aloud.
<i>=> Activity: Competition (3 mins)</i>
- T gives instruction: Line up Ss into 2 groups.

Have Ss read them aloud. A group reads this story louder and
clearer. That group is winner.
<i><b>2. Song(10’) - P.72. (Track 12):</b></i>
<i>- Put up the olive, orange, octopus phonics cards on the</i>
board. T points and have Ss repeat.
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song.
Play the CD
- Ask Ss to take out their own picture cards and place them on
their desks.
- Play the CD again. Ss listen and hold up the corresponding
picture cards.
<i><b>* Production(10’): Memory game</b></i>
- Put the phonics cards on the board
- Ask Ss to memorize the order of these cards
- Ask Ss to close their eyes, T removes one phonic card
randomly and asks individual Ss to name it.
- Continue changing the order cards.
- Remember to correct Ss’ pronunciation throughout the
lesson.

VI. Procedures
<i>- Have Ss colour the things that have O words. T explains that</i>
they can use any colour they like.
<i>=> Activity: Work in pairs: Have Ss work in pairs to check</i>
their answers.
- Go around and help Ss if they need
<i><b>2. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words</b></i>
<i><b>that start with the “o” sound. Say the “o” words. (Track 13)</b></i>
<i> T shows the omelette phonics card. Point to it and say: “/ɒ/ </i>
<i>-omelette. Have Ss repeat. </i>
<i>- Mime trying to keep your balance and say: “/ɒ/ - omelette.</i>
- Encourage Ss to do the same.
- Play the CD, Ss listen, point to and repeat the word.
- Point to the pictures and have Ss named them.
- Allow Ss some minutes to colour the pictures of the words
that start with the /ɒ/ sound. T goes around the classroom
providing any necessary help.
<i>=> Activity: Craftwork:</i>
- Provide Ss with some card stock paper. Alternatively, ask
them to bring some from the previous lesson.
- Ask Ss to choose one of the words.
- When they finish, they present their letters to the class.
<i><b>* Production(10’): Fill in the blank </b></i>
- Put up the pictures and run through
- Show the missing words that leaving out the vowels
- Call Ss to go to the board and complete
- Check and correct mistakes
*Ask Ss to do the exercise 3,4 in Activity book
