- Vocabulary: I’m, Iam, nice, meet
2. Skills

- Develop Ss speaking, reading and listening skills
3. Attitude

- Be warm and friendly when meet each other.
- Educate Ss to love their lesson and work hard.
II. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: computer, projector, voting enjoy
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Teaching methods:

- Communicative approach.
- Techniques:

+ Ask and answer (say individually)
+ Work in pairs/ groups.

2.Warm up (5’)

- Say hello to the class and introduce yourself, using Hello. I am + name.

- Let Ss introduce some information about themselves (maybe in Vietnamese) and
introduces oneself in English.

Example: Hello. I’m Duyen. (Hi. I am Duyen). 
3. New lesson:

* Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat(8’)

-T: Use a poster or two character puppets to
present the situation.

- T: Set the sense: On the first day of the new
school year Nam and Mai meet their teacher. Ask

Ss to listen what they say.

- Ss: Listen to the Teacher

-T: Play the recording for pupils to listen, and
point to the appropriate line.

- Ss: Listen and point.

- T: Play the recording again for pupils to repeat.
- Ss: Look at the book, listen and repeat.

-T: Explain the meaning of the language practised.
Miss; Nice to meet you; Hello= hi. Note:
Difference between Hi / Hello.

- T: Asks ps practice in pairs.
- Ss: work in pairs

* Activity 2: Point and say(12’)
- Teach vocabulary:

Hello Hi

Am = ‘m Nice to meet you.
Checking: What and where

Note: difference between Hi / Hello.

Hi is very informal. Pupils can use with friends
but not with an adult, e.g a teacher.

Hello is also informal and friendly but more
formal than Hi. It can be used with teachers and
other adults.

Setting the sense:

- Have pupils look at pictures. Ask them to
identify the characters in the pictures.

Who are in the pictures? What are they doing?
- Sentence Partners: - Hello

- Hi. I’m + name
I’m + name (I’m = I am)

-T: Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be
Miss Hien and Nam to act out the greeting
exchange.

-Ss: Act out in pairs.

- Call on one more pair to act out Mai and Quan to
self- introduce.

-Ss: Act out in pairs.

-T: Have the class repeat all the phrases in this

section and Teacher correct the Ss pronunciation
(stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation)
-Ss: repeat

- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the
front of the class. The rest of the class observe and
give comments if possible.

- Make a few questions to check pupils’
comprehension of the language.

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in
chorus to reinforce their pronunciation

“Hello, I’m”.

- Give them a few seconds to read the sentences.
Remind them to focus on the context to select the
appropriate words from the box.

b. While- Writing.

- Ask Ss to read and complete the sentences

- Set a time limit for Ss to do the task independently.
Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before
checking as a class.

- Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are
saying.

- Set the scene: we are going to review phrases
saying hello and bye.

- Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the
lines in the speech bubbles

- Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in
the speech bubbles two times.

- Divide the class into two groups. One repeat Mai’s
part and the other repeat Nam’ part.

- Play the recording again for the whole class to
repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce
their pronunciation.

* Activity 2: Point and say(15’)

Have Ss look at the pictures on page 8

Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names.
Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles.
T models/ allocates the parts of characters Mai and
Nam to Ss

Ask them to act out the dialogue1. Repeat the step
with some other pairs for pictures

Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs,
using the pictures.

Monitor the activity and offer held. Correct

pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds,
intonation) when necessary.

Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front
of the class. The others observe and give comments.
Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in

chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.
* Activity 3: Let’s talk(7’)

Show picture and give task.

Have Ps work in pair to greet and respond to
greeting.

- Display in class, others comment

words in order to complete 3 conversations.

Ss look at the pictures and answer T’s questions
Who are they?

What are they talking about?

Ss read words in the speech bubbles.

Ss give their answers by writing on the board.

Some pairs read aloud the conversation.
