- Ask one st to read his/her confirmation letter aloud .
- Ask another st to give remarks.
- Check and give a mark.
- <i>Aims: to introduce two sound </i>/ə /<i> and </i>/ɜ:/<i> and help sts </i>
<i>to practise these sounds.</i>
<b>a. Write two sounds on the board and pronounce them </b>
clearly twice, then ask sts to repeat.
- Move around to help .
- Ask two sts to read again and give remarks.
<b>b. Ask sts to look at sentences in page 60 in the book.</b>
- Ask them to work in pairs to read the sentences and
then find out the words containing sound /ə / and the
words containing sound / ɜ:/.
- Ask some sts to read these sentences aloud.
- Listen and give remarks.
<b>3. Grammar: (29 mins)</b>
<i> Aims: to revise the present progressive with a future </i>
<i>meaning, " be going to" and have sts do Ex 1, EX 2 and </i>
<i>EX 3.</i>- Give two examples:
eg: <i>Fiona <b>is having</b> a birthday party next Saturday.</i>
<i> I'm feeling unwell so <b>I'm going to see</b> the doctor </i>
<i>some time this week.</i>
- Ask sts to think about the use of present progressive
and " <i>be going to" </i>in these sentences.
- Ask one st to present.
- Remind sts that "be going to" can also be used to
predict something with some evidence.
Eg: <i>The ceiling looks unsafe. I think <b>it's going to fall.</b></i>
- Notes: <i>Avoid using the present progressive with " be" </i>
<i>and " go" </i>
- Ask some sts to give examples.
+ Exercise 1:
- One st speaks aloud in front of the
whole class.
- Give remarks.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Write down two sounds.
- Listen to the teacher and repeat.
- Look at the book , listen and repeat.
