- Ask students to work in pairs, guess the activities the
Japanese often do on their New Year’s Days.


- Give feed back and introduce the topic of the lesson
- Have students listen and repeat:

pine trees represent


- Students’ answers may be varied
- Listen to the teacher


- Listen and repeat

<b>Task 1: </b>


- Have students read through the questions


- Play the tapes once or two times, have students do the
task


- Have students compare the answers with partners
- Call on students to read aloud their answers
- Check and give correct answers
