<b> Lesson 1 – Reading </b>



<b>I. Objectives:</b>


1. Educational aim: Help Ss know more about the different kinds of competitions and the enjoyment
they have from them.


2. Knowledge: Help Ss know the purpose of an English competition and how to join it.
3. Skills: - Guessing the meaning of words and phrases in the contest


- Reading for passage comprehension
- Scanning for specific information


- Using the information they have learnt to discuss the related topic


<b>II. Methods:</b> integrated, mainly communicative.

<b>“ Guessing game”</b>



- Have Ss listen to five pieces of music to
guess the name of the competitions.


- Give the answers and show the pictures of
the competitions.

• The last Passenger
• Road to Mount Olympia

<b>*Activity 1:</b>


- Have Ss ask & answer about their daily
routine


What time do you get up / go to school / have


breakfast …?


What time do you often do in the morning /
afternoon / everning ?


- Make remarks and focus on the tense used


<b>*Activity 2 :</b>


- Give hand out to Ss and have them pick out
the words related to a farmer’s daily routine


sing karaoke, lead the buffalo to the field,
get up early, do homework, repair meal for
family, chat with friends, repair the banks
of the plot of land, teaching, pump water,
transplant, plough and harrow, check mail,
drink tea, find documents , peasant
- Check answers then explain new words by
using pictures


- Conduct repetition of the words chorally

2. He gets up at 4.30 then he goes down the
kitchen to boil some water for his morning
tea.

the transplanting.

+ In the morning:


- 4.30 Mr Vy gets up, goes down the


kitchen, boils water for tea, drinks tea, has
quick breakfast, leads the buffalo to the
field.


- 5.15: leaves house


- 5.30: arrives in the field, ploughs &
harrows.


- 7.45: takes a break
- 10.30: goes home


- 11.30: has lunch with family
+ In the afternoon:


- 2.30: Mr Vy & Mrs Tuyet go to the field
again,repair the banks of the plot of land.
He pumps water into the plot of land. She
does the transplanting.


- 6.30: finish work.
- 7.00: have dinner
+ After dinner:


- watch TV, go to bed.
