Three years ago, Evan experienced staring death in the face. He was stuck in the elevator in his new apartment.
After buying a big birthday cake for his mother in the bakery, he called his mom and told her that he would
go home soon. It was a fourteen- storey building, and he lived on the fourteenth floor. He pressed the elevator
button, and then waited for the elevator as usual. He was very excited and anticipated to see his mother’s
happy and surprised face. When the elevator was on the tenth floor, the light of the elevator was off, and the
surrounding became completely dark. Evan was very so scared because he couldn’t see anything. Just then,


the light was on again, and he thought it was just a temporary mechanical problem. Suddenly, the elevator
<b>descended abruptly very fast and he could only instinctively grabbed the rail in the elevator. He screamed </b>
loudly because he thought that he had only minutes to live. He was so frightened that the sweat broke out on
his backbone. Luckily, the elevator stopped on the third floor instead of falling down to the basement. At that
moment, he tried to calm down first and press the emergency button to contact the security guard. They said
that there were some technical problems with the elevator, and it would take about 30 minutes to solve. Evan
could do nothing but seat on the ground, wait fearfully for the rescue in the dark. Whenhe heard his mother’s
voice outside, he felt overjoyed and relieved. She tried to talk to him to ease his anxiety. The elevator door
finally opened. He saw many people outside with his mom, and she looked very worried. It was the most
horrible experience of his life.
