Prepare letter cards from Nn to Zz
Show a letter card and the two students from two teams have to say out the word
The student who says out the word faster wins a point for his/ her team
Teacher may ask the student to say out the sound of the word
The team with more points wins the game.

Explain the activity
Elicit the letter and the sound for each
Ask the students to look at each letter and picture and
put a tick or a cross.
Go around the classroom to provide any necessary

Explain the activity
Elicit the letters and the sounds for each
Ask the students to look at each letter and draw lines
to corresponding pictures
Ask them to write the upper and lower case letters
Go around the classroom to provide any necessary
help, ask individual students to say out the sounds or
the items.
Ask the class to say out the name of each item and
the correct letter of each one.

Explain the activity
Play the CD. The students listen to the sounds and
write the letters they hear.
Ask the students to circle the right picture that
corresponds to the letter.
Go around the classroom to provide any necessary

Divide the class into two team, team A and team B
Choose a student from a team to come to the front of
the classroom.
Show him/her a phonics card from the previous unit
or whisper a word and ask the student to act it out.
The remaining students try to guess the correct
answer.The first student to have the correct answer
wins a point for his/ her team.
Choose another student from other team to come and
the activity continues
The team with more points wins

<b>Activity: What is it? </b>
Teacher holds up a phonics card, partly hidden by a sheet of paper.
Slowly reveal the phonics cards. The students try to guest what the phonics card is.
3. New lesson

<b>* Activity 1:(6’)</b>
Divide the class into two teams, team A and team B
Choose a word and write the appropriate number of
spaces on the board
Ask two teams to take turn guessing a letter. If a
student guesses correctly, write that letter in the
space and give the student another turn. If a student
guesses incorrectly, start drawing a hanging man and
have a student from the other team guess a letter.
The team guessing the word wins a point
<b>1. Activity 1: Hangman</b>
<b>* Activity 2:Act Out (6’) </b>
Put up some phonics cards on the board.
Write the letters of the words around them in random
order.
Ask individual students to come to the board and
write the words. Or ask the class to take out their
notebooks and write down the correct words.
The first student who finishes can choose other cards
and put them up on the board.
Teacher writes the letters of the words around the
cards in random order then the activity continues.

Play some chants from units 8-13
Encourage students to sing along and do the
corresponding action or hold up their picture cards
<b>* Activity 4: (6’) </b>
Hold up the phonics cards one at a time to show to
the students
Say the name of the item on the card (Teacher can
say correctly or not) and ask the students to verify
the word you say is correct or not by putting their
thumbs up (correct) and down (incorrect).
Encourage the students to give the correct answer
<i>Eg. Teacher: (holding up the zebra phonics card): It’s</i>
<i>a zoo.</i>
<i> Class: (putting their thumbs down)</i>
<i> Teacher: Good! What is it?</i>
<i> Class: zebra! etc</i>
<b>4. Activity 4: Thumbs up or</b>

<b>* Activity 5: (6’) </b>
Divide the class into 2 teams, A and B.
Write on the board some words from units 8-13
In a limited time, the students quickly draw the
pictures of those words
The team with more students finishes drawing wins.
Go around the classroom and provide any necessary
help.
Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to
the picture they like most.
Go around the classroom to provide any necessary
help, ask individual students to say out the sound or
the items then give out some comments or
compliments
Tell the students that they can draw a star next to the
picture they think the best of all.
