I. The simple present tense. ( Thì hiện tại đơn)
1. Form:
- I, We, You, They + Verb ( without to)
- She, He, It + Verb + s/ es
(Nếu chủ ngữ ở ngôi thứ 3 số ít ta phải chia động từ, thêm s hoặc es vào sau
động từ).
2. Usage:
- Thì HTĐ diễn tả một thói quen, một hành động sảy ra thờng xuyên lặp đi lặp lại
nhiều lần ở hiện tại.
Ex: + He watches TV every night.


+ What do you do every day?
- Thì HTĐ diễn tả một thói quen, một sự thật hiển nhiên.

Ex: + The sun rises in the East.
+ I am a student.
- Thì HTĐ đợc dùng khi ta nói về thời khoá biểu, chơng trình.
Ex: + The film begins at 8 oclock.
3. Spelling;
* Ta thêm S để hình thành ngôi thứ 3 số ítcủa hầu hết các động từ. Nhng ta thêm
ES khi động từ tận cùng là các chữ cái (o, sh, s, ch, x, z) .
* Nếu động từ tận cùng là Y trớc nó là phụ âm thì ta đổi y thành I rồi thêm es.
Chú ý: các phó từ đợc dùng với thì HTĐ: often, usually
everyday/week/month
II. Structure: (not) Adj + enough + to - inf (Đủ/ không đủ để làm gì).
Ex: Hes old enough to take the driving test.
She isnt old enough to be in my class.
III. Past simple tense.

2. Usage: - Dùng để diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra trong quá khứ.
Ex: Tom went to Paris last summer.

3. Các phó từ đi kèm: last (Week, month, year .); ago; yesterday; .
IV. Structure: Be going to + verb ( Dùng diễn tả điều gì đợc quyết định trớc khi
nói; sự kiện xảy ra trong tơng lai gần; tiên đoán điều gì chắc chắn xảy ra trong t-
ơng lai.)

Ex: Im going to have a party this evening.
They are going to build a new hospital.
Hes studying very hard. Hes going to pass the exam.
