1. Warm up ( 7 minutes)

- Please look at the poster of verbs: You are
going to write the past of these verbs in
two teams.

- Look at the poster.
- Play game in 2 teams.

2. Presentation ( 8 minutes)

? What tense of the verbs?

? Please tell the use of the simple past. - The past simple tense.- Thì quá khứ đơn giản dùng để diễn đạt
một hành động, sự việc đã xảy ra và kết
thúc trong quá khứ.

- Call 1 S to write the form of the past
simple tense.

- Please make some examples.

- Call some Ss to read the sentences on the
poster:

I used to have long hair.
Lan used to walk to school.

My grandmother used tolive on a farm.
Tuan used toplay soccer well.

3. Practice ( 15 minutes)

- Ask Ss to work in pairs to do exercise 2 in
Ss’ book.

- Call some pairs to practice the dialogues
loudly.

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures: Nga and
Hoa are talking about Hoa s photographs.’

 Practice asking and answering questions, developing and opening the dialogues.

IV. Procedure:

1. Warm up (7 minutes)

teams: write the names of the school
subjects.

2. Presentation ( 10 minutes)

* Pre – teach new words:

- Guide Ss to learn new words.
- Check the understanding.
*Set the scene:

- Look at the picture.

- Tim’s mother went to meet his teacher,
Miss Jackson. After the meeting, she went
home and talked to Tim about hic school
report. Please listen to the tape and tick T or
F for each information.

a) Tim was out when his mother called him.
b) Tim’s mother met his teacher at school.
c) Tim’s report is poor.

d) Tim’s mother wants him to improve one
thing.

e) Tim needs to improve his Spanish
grammar.

f) Tim promised to try his best in learning

- Explain the use of “ indirect speech”:
+ Câu gián tiếp là tờng thuật lại lời nói của
một ngời đến một ngời khác đã có sự thay
đổi cho phù hợp.

+ Các bớc chuyển đổi câu trực tiếp sang câu
gián tiếp:+ Bỏ dấu phẩy hoặc hai chấm sau
động từ said, bỏ ngoặc kép.

+ Đổi ngôi của đại từ (I-he).
+ Hạ động từ xuống một thì.
Ex: Minh said:” I am fine”.
Minh said that he was fine.

Note: nếu dùng động từ khuyết thiếu
“should” thì vẫn giữ nguyên.

Miss Jackson said “Tim should work harder
on his Spanish pronunciation”.

- Give some sentences and ask Ss to change
into the reported speech.

a) Lan said “I am a student”.

b) Nam said “We go to school at 6.30”.
c) Ha said: “I have lunch at home”.

- Repeat individually.

 Speak about study habits and study methods.

 Understand what contents a school report has by completing the report card in the
listening part.

English club, foreigner.
