- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.
<b>II. Teaching aids: </b>


- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>


<i><b>Activity: Unscramble the words</b></i>


- T put up the ox, box, taxi phonics cards on the board.


- Write the letters of the words around them in random order.


- Ask individual students to come to the board and write the words.


- Play the song from Unit 2 (Track 71), the students listen and sing along.
- Ss listen and sing along.

- Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick
them on the board.

- Give the students 10 seconds to look at the
cards.


- Have students close their eyes and then you take
away one cards.


- Tell the students to open their eyes and name the
missing cards


<i><b>7. Listen, point, repeat. Colour the pictures of </b></i>
<i><b>the words that start with x sound. Say the x </b></i>


<i><b>words </b><b>(8’)</b></i>


- Show the students the six phonics card. Point to
it and say: /ks/ - six. Ask them to repeat.


- Mime playing the violin and say: /ks/ - six.
- Play the CD. Ss listen, point to and repeat the
word.


- Point to the picture and have students name
them.



- Allow the students some time to colour in the
pictures of words start with the /x/ sound.


- Go around the class providing any necessary
help.


<i><b>Activity: Craftwork</b><b> (10’)</b></i>


- Ask the students to take out their notebooks.
- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter
and the picture in their notebooks.


- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.
- The first threestudents who finish will show
their pictures to the class.

<i><b>Activity 1: Trace and say </b><b>(7’)</b></i>


- T write on the board the capital letter X (write
slowly to demonstrate its formation).


- Point to it and elicit the sound /ks/


- Show the formation in the air (taking care when
facing to the students that the letter is formed the
correct way for them).


- Repeat with the small letter x


- Ss trace the letters in their activity books.


- Go around and provide any necessary help. Ask
the students to say the sound of the letter.


<i><b>Activity 2: Trace and match</b><b>(8’)</b></i>


- First, the students trace the letters in the boxes


- Check around the classroom.


<i><b>Activity: Which way is right? </b></i>


- Write the words ox, box, taxi, six on four papers
- Stick each page to each corner of the classroom
- Ask the students to stand up


- Say the name of an item and ask the students to
face their faces to the corner with the word.

- Ask Ss to join the dots to complete the picture


- Ask them to say what it is

- Go around and provide any necessary help.


<i><b>Activity 4: What is it? Circle </b><b>(5’)</b></i>


- Ask the students to look at each picture and the
words below and circle the correct ones


- Go around the classroom and provide any


necessary help. Ask the individual students to say
the name of the pictures.


<i><b>Activity: Sound and word </b><b>(5’)</b></i>


- Divide the class into two teams, A and B.


- Put up the 4 phonics cards of this lesson on the
board.


- Ask a student from team A to identify the sound
(one point) and the word (one point).


- Continue with a student from team B.


- Write the points for each team on the board.
- The team with more points wins. Teacher can
use some phonics cards from the previous lessons.
