Setting Up the Instructor
Server

Complete the following:
1. Install the NetWare 5 operating system on a server that you name
EDU.
2. During installation, complete the following:

Create three volumes:

SYS (at least 750 MB)

DATA (at least 250 MB)

MAIL (at least 250 MB)

Implement both IP and IPX on this server.

Create a tree named EDU_TREE.

Place the server object and all volume objects in
.ADMINISTRATORS.EDU_TRAIN.

Create an organization object named EDUTRAIN, with an Admin
object having the password of

novell

.
Using

novell

as the password allows you to use the
RESTORE5.NLM default settings to restore NDS and file system.

In EDUTRAIN, create an organizational unit object named
ADMINISTRATORS.
3. At the Products and Services screen, deselect all products except
WAN Traffic Manager, Storage Management Services, and Novell
Documentation CD-ROM.
Install documentation on the DATA volume.

Revision 1.0 This document should only be used by a Novell-certified instructor. IG Prep-5
If you think this document was pirated, call 1-800-PIRATES or 1-801-861-7101.

Preparation and Setup

4. After server installation is complete, restore the EDU backup from your

instructor CD:
a. Copy the NWTAPE.CDM, TPEMU.HAM, EMUIF.NLM,
EDU_DS.575, and EDU_FS.575 files to SYS:SYSTEM.

x

Read RESTORE5.TXT thoroughly. The restore for this course is different

than the other NetWare 5 courses and requires additional settings.
b. At the server console, enter

LOAD RESTORE5 -D=SYS:\SYSTEM\EDU_DS.575
-F=SYS:\SYSTEM\EDU_FS.575 -T=EDU_TREE -S=EDU
-A=.ADMIN.EDUTRAIN

5. Verify NetWare server operation.
6. Connect workstation presentation software with a video projection
unit.
7. Copy the workstation presentation software to PUBLIC or to a valid
search drive and flag it RoSh.
8. Install Netscape Communicator by launching
\\DATA\NOVDOCS\INSTALL\SETUP.EXE.

Setting Up the Student
Servers

The course exercises have the students divided into three groups. Each
group will create an NDS design for and merge an EDU_TREE with a
PRO_TREE.
To facilitate these groupings, set up the student servers according to the
following chart:
Complete the following for each server:
1. Install the NetWare 5 operating system on a server that you name
EDU

x

or PRO

x

.
2. During installation, complete the following:

Create three volumes:

SYS (at least 750 MB)

Implement both IP and IPX on the servers.
The following is a suggested IP addressing scheme for the servers.

Create a tree named either EDU_TREE

x

or PRO_TREE

x

.

Create an organization object named EDUTRAIN or
PROLEARNING, with an Admin object having the password of

novell

.
Using

novell

as the password allows you to use the
RESTORE5.NLM default settings to restore NDS and file system.

In EDUTRAIN, create an organizational unit object named
ADMINISTRATORS.
Place the server object and all volume objects in
ADMINISTRATORS.

In PROLEARNING, place the server object and all volume objects
in the PROLEARNING container.
3. At the Products and Services screen, deselect all products except
WAN Traffic Manager and Storage Management Services.
