1. Warm – Up: (5’)

- Chatting: Ask questions about their friends.
 Do you have many close friends?

 Who is your best close friend in your class?
 What does he/she look like?

 Is he/she (intelligent)?

 What does he/she like/dislike you know?
 What does he/she do in his/her free time?
2. Pre – Reading: (5’)

- Have students match the words in column A and
their meanings in column B.

a/ Exercise 1: Tenses

- Have students review the usages of the present and
past simple tenses.

 Present simple is used to describe:
+ Permanent states.

They live in Ho Chi Minh City now.
+ Regular/ repeated events.

He gets up at 5 a.m every day.

+ General truths.

The Sun rises in the East.

Time expressions: always, usually, often; every
day/month/year/…

- Ask students to complete the paragraphs. Use the
correct form of the verbs in brackets.

b/ Exercise 2: Present simple tense
- Ask students some questions about the planets.
 How many planets are there in our solar system?
 What planets do you know?

- Explain the verbs in the box.

- Ask students to do the exercises in pairs.
- Check the answers and correct them.

- Ask some pairs to practice the dialogues in front of
the class.
