Language focus - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to consolidate the sound of the letter Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz and the coresponding words. Vocabulary: review 2. Skill - Listening, speaking, reading, writing. 3. Attitude - Encourage Ss to consolidate the sound of the letter Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz and the coresponding words II. Teaching aids - Book, CD, phonics cards. III. Method - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work,group work - Some techniques can be used: music chairs IV.Procedures 1. Warm up (5’) Activity: Correct teacher - T prepare some phonics cards from Units 9-13. - T hold up the phonics cards one at a time to show to the students. - Say the name of the item on the card (Teacher can say correctly or not) and ask the students to verify the word you say is correct or not by putting their thumbs up (correct) and down (incorrect). - Encourage the students to give the correct answer. Eg.Teacher: (holding up the watch phonics card): It’s a vase. Class: (putting their thumbs down) Teacher: Good! What is it? Class: watch! Etc 3. New lesson (30’) Teacher - Students’ activies Activity 1: Look and circle the right pictures (8’) - T elicit the letters and their sounds. - T explain the activity. - T ask the students to look at the letter and. Contents 1. Look and circle the right pictures Answer key: v- violet, vase, van w- well, watch, window x- taxi, box, ox.

Activity: Which way is right? (5’) - T write the four letters V W X Y Z on five papers - Stick each page to each corner of the classroom and the board. - Ask the students to stand up - Say the name of an item and ask the students to verify the word you say begun with/ contains which letter by facing their faces to the corner with the corresponding letter. Eg. Teacher: Ox. Class: (face quickly to the corner with letter X) - Say slowly at the beginning and quickly later to make more fun. Activity 3: Write the correct letter (6’) - T explains the activity. - T elicit the names for each picture - Ask the students to write the upper and lower case beginning letter for each picture in the boxes - Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help. Warm up (5’) Activity: Guess - T divide the class into two teams, A and B - Ask a student from one team to come to the board - Whisper one of the vocabulary words (from unit 9-13) to the student. - Without speaking, the student draw a picture of the word on the board - The first team to guess the word correctly wins a point. - Repeat the activity with a student from the other team. - The team with more points wins the game. 3.
