Mars Introduction

Mars is the fourth planet
from the Sun in the
Solar System and also
the first planet in orbit
lies outside the orbit of
Earth.

The solar system
including Nine planets,
including the Mars,
revolve around the sun.

The mars

The planet is named after the Roman god of war, Mars. It is
also referred to as the "Red Planet" because of its reddish
appearance, which is caused by iron oxide that is prevalent
on its surface.

The Mars takes 1.9 years to make a complete revolution
about the sun. Its average distance form the Sun is
142,000,000 miles.

The mars is almost spherical in form, with an average
diameter of 4,270 miles. The average density of the mars is
2,97 g/cm3.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere of mars is quite different form that of
the earth. It is composed primary of carbon dioxide with
small amounts of other gases. The six most common
components of the atmosphere are:
Carbon Dioxide (CO2): 95.32%
Nitrogen (N2): 2.7%
Argon (Ar): 1.6%
Oxygen (O2): 0.13%
Water (H2O): 0.03%
Neon (Ne): 0.00025 %

The atmosphere of Mars can
become quite dusty. This is
because small dust particles
can still be suspended in
the air.

The atmosphere of Mars is
much thinner than the Earth.
