The CAD Converter CATIA for RobotStudio
imports native CATIA files (*.model), from CATIA
version 4.1.x, up to and including version 4.2.0.,
into ACIS SAT format (*.SAT).
Repairs and Cleans Up Models
The CATIA Converter leverages ACIS's high-preci-
sion modeling technology, which requires data to
be accurate to the order of six decimal places.
Often CATIA files contain data with lower preci-
sion, which may not satisfy ACIS precision
requirements, so translation problems can arise.
This converter contains “face healing” functions
for repairing the trimmed faces to ensure that face
trimming curves are connected and lie on the sur-
face within ACIS precision.
How to get started?
All software for installation is provided on the
RobotStudio CD. To run RobotStudio CATIA Cad
Converter you need to have RobotStudio installed
and a separate license key for this option.
To request your license key, follow these steps:
1. In the Windows taskbar, click Start button and
then click Programs > ABB Automation > System
Information. The System Information dialog is
displayed.
2. Click the Products tab and in the Installed
Products field, select RobotStudio. Then click the
Request License Key for RobotStudio button. The
License Key Request Form is displayed.

3. Complete the License Key Request Form.
Make sure to enter the Product Reference Number,
found below, in the Order Information dialog.
