UNIT 3 : A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE LESSON 1: Getting started - Listen and read I. OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to talk about life and activities in the countryside. II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, pictures III. PROCEDURES: TEACHER/S ACTIVITIES 1 / Warm-up : (7’) - Give Ss a picture, and have Ss find out the correct activity in the pictures.. - Ask Ss a question: Where do we see those activities?. SS/ ACTIVITIES - Look at the picture and match the activity with the picture. I. Getting started: 1. watering the vegetable 2. swimming 3. collecting the eggs 4. havesting 5. feeding the pigs 6. plowing in the field 7. a buffalo boy’s flying his kite 8. playing football - Answer the question. in the countryside. 2/ Presentation: (10’) - Introduce some newwords using pictures. II. New words:  countryside(n)  journey(n)  banyan tree(n)  picnic(n)  snack(n)  paddy fields(n)  join(v)  reach(v)  so (adv) - Instruct Ss to read.. - Guess the meaning, then take note.. - Read in chorus, then in.

R - Set the scene:Ba invited Liz to join his family trip to his home village. - Get Ss to listen the text twice. 3/ Practice: (19’)  Activity 1: - Have Ss read the text again and decide which sentence is True and which sentence is false. 1. Ba and his family had a two-day trip to their home village. 2. Many people like going there for their weekends. 3. There is a small bamboo forest at the entrance to the village. 4. Liz had a snack at the house of Ba’s uncle. 5. There is a shrine on the mountain near Ba’s village. 6. Everyone had a picnic on the mountain. 7. Everyone left the village late in the evening. 8.
