Turn your name into a cover
No artwork? In a hurry? Type alone can make an engaging cover. Just set,
color and stagger your company name, which creates a tapestry of appealing
texture and valuable repetition.

New guide
Stack ‘em! You build this effect by stacking words atop horizontal guides. First
set and carefully kern your name (bold type works best), and make copies in three
or four sizes (try 75%, 50%, 25%). Tint in four or five shades or colors. (1) Start
by placing your biggest word in the middle (more or less), then drag guides to its
baseline, x height and cap height. (2) Align a second, smaller word to any one of
the guides, then drag new guides to its baseline, x height and cap height. Repeat,
adjusting as you go. Try it using translucent letters, too.
What colors?
Analogous (side by side) colors are
easiest to harmonize. In this case,
just desaturate the color wheel (left),
then use the coffee-looking colors in
the yellow-orange range!
