This Lesson reviews some of the wide-ranging issues and research surrounding
authentic materials and authenticity in foreign language learning. After a brief
historical overview and a discussion of some of the definitional ambiguities
associated with authenticity, the paper goes on to discuss four important areas of
concern: i) the gap between authentic and textbook discourse; ii) the English-as-aworld-language debate; iii) authenticity and motivation; iv) text difficulty and task
design and their effects on language acquisition. The lesson concludes by
examining some of the reasons behind resistance to change in curriculum and
materials design and possible future directions.
Authentic Material will be abe to choose the habit or their ambitious of the
learners. They choose their own purpose to learn a foreign language. Through
using the authentic learners can understand their learnning by background
knowledge: They are interested in age group, point of the lesson, usable language
style, availaible locally and good quality picture, sound. Especially, easy to use in
these activities and real life contuxtual language.
Authentic material relia is real can help learners recognize the real contextual
language using the multimedia such as: posters, maps, pictures, videos, etc, …
Most of using the intergrated skills, high-interest content, range of learning
modalities and low and high-tech resources. Teacher will be a filter without it we
can not control the grammar structure, vocabularies cultural and socialism, beside
that teachers can be a culture guide also give the estential resource for the teaching
methodology
