11
METHOD SATEMENT OF FIRE SYSTEM FOR O&M ACCOMODATION
Refer to the shop drawings and the project's MEP technical specification to make an
installation methodology for the electrical system.
5 INSTALLATION FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
5.1 Medium voltage (MV) system installation:
5.1.1 Purpose:
- Describe electrical works relate with installating of medium voltage systems.
5.1.2 Method statement
Works are execute base on construction schedule and detailed approval drawing.
a. Material:
Medium voltage concrete pole, medium voltage equipment (Transformer, isolator,
outdoor isolator switch, recloser circuit breaker 35kV-630A, support, etc.), medium
voltage cable.
- Material background check: origin, date of manufacture, assembly drawings,
schematics diagrams, technical specifications with test run data, CO, CQ.
- Material positioning is to consider the risks associated with mechanical damage.
Material are not to be placed in a position where they may be damaged by moving
vehicles, e.g located close to the kerb where they are likely to be struck by heavy
vehicles travelling on a road carriageway or moving in or out drive way access area.
- Tools and equipment for installation must suitable with the manufacturer's
instructions
b. Preparation
- Machinery & tools refer item 2.2
- Check Medium voltage system location follow to approved shop drawing are ready
for installation.
- Check the route to transport material, equipment of MV system to the installation
location.
- Determine actual correct type of material as per position need to install follow to
approval drawing.
- Determine actual, correct & type of support(angle bars, c-channel) and bolt, nut as
per type of equipment and installation position.
12
METHOD SATEMENT OF FIRE SYSTEM FOR O&M ACCOMODATION
- Prepare sand, 1x2 stone, rebar, wood plates, cement to pour the column foundation.
- The Safety Officer will check the area to ensure no potential incidents before
lifting.
c. Installation work
+ MV pole foundation pourring.
- Determine pole position.
- Excavate until requirement depth.
- Clean and flatten bottom of pit.
- Make formwork and put in pit.
- Cut, bend, tie the rebar and put in the pit.
- Proceed concrete pouring.
- All steps of pouring the pole foundation follow the Civil construction method of
concrete pouring
Picture 5.1-1 Cross section drawing of pole foundation
+ MV poles installation:
- After pouring concrete, the column foundation must wait for the allowed number of
days to be erected.
- Clean pole foundation before erection .
- Re-check collisions with other systems while lifting process.
- Accurately locate the center of the pole. After the pole has been put into position,
adjust the pole to vertical.
13
METHOD SATEMENT OF FIRE SYSTEM FOR O&M ACCOMODATION
- Grout void between pole base and foundation. Use non-shrinking or expanding
concrete grout firmly packed in entire void space.
+ Some picture about the medium voltage pole erection work:
Picture 5.1-2 Poles erection by crain.
+ MV equipments installation.
- Install support and secure them firmly before installing MV equipments.
- Determine actual correct type of support as per MV equipment and position need to
install follow to approval drawing.
- Lift or winch each support to the correct position and tighten the bolts.
- After checking that all supports are in place and firmly fixed, Determine correct type
of equipment for each position according to the approval shop drawings.
- Install each equipment and fix it firmly by bolts and nuts of the correct
manufacturer’s type.

+ MV cable pulling and laying
Attention before lay, stretch cable :
- The anchorage of the cable tension section must be temporarily increased: the
anchor corresponds to the anchorage for preparation for tensioning.
- Corridor of cable pulling route must be cleared to ensure enough conditions for rope
pulling.
- At the intersections that need scaffolding to support the wire, the scaffolding must
be made firmly. Special locations will have their own detailed methodology.
- Hanging Puly, erect scaffolding to support the cable to cross the road...
- Transport cable drum to laying, pulling location.
- The cable coming out of the cable drum passes through the pulley. Check the signal
system to prepare to pull the cable. When the signal is smooth, there are no problems,
17
METHOD SATEMENT OF FIRE SYSTEM FOR O&M ACCOMODATION
then issue the command to pull the cable. Pull slowly to adjust the cable out system to
make sure the cable belly is always the natural ground to avoid damage to the cable
while pulling.
- When pulling the cable, the cable drum are placed on the cable drum support
dedicated to the uncoil cable.
- After putting the cable on the pole, proceed to lock the cable.
- Stretch the cable to get the deflection according to the design
- Proceed to lock in place by cable belt after stretching enough deflection.
- Details of cable pulling, laying and connection can be refer in section 5.8.3.
Picture 5.1-5 Cable pulling and stretch cable get design deflection.
